Ghent University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher (1 year, 80% appointment) to work on an FWO project examining the role of parents and peers in social media use during early adolescence. You will plan and conduct research, manage ethics submissions, and recruit participants.

The role emphasizes quantitative analysis, longitudinal data, and dissemination through articles, conferences, and a doctoral dissertation.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in psychology with a strong research profile; preference for candidates already published in parenting and digital media.
• Strong interest in parenting, peers, and social media; willing to collect intensive longitudinal and experience-sampling data.
• Ability to work independently, proactive, open to feedback, and collaborative in a group with multiple doctoral students and postdocs.
• Quantitative research skills; experience with longitudinal research or diary studies and advanced statistical software such as R or Mplus.
• Commitment to societal relevance and knowledge translation for stakeholders.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills; Dutch knowledge recommended for data collection.

Responsabilités

• Preparing and conducting planned research activities, including ethics submissions, data management, and participant recruitment.
• Analyze data (primarily quantitative) using advanced analytical strategies.
• Disseminate findings through peer-reviewed articles, conferences, and a doctoral dissertation.
• Science communication and involvement in teaching activities within the department.
• Supervision and support of the doctoral student working on the project.
• Administrative tasks and contributing to the team.
