ABOUT GHENT UNIVERSITY

YOUR TASKS
  • At least 70 % of the assignment will be dedicated to academic research.
  • Assist in teaching activities at Bachelor and Master level.
  • Provide coaching to Master’s students in exercises, work placement and dissertation.
  • Coach doctoral students.
  • Manage multiple parallel projects, including kinetic modelling of solid–gas reactions, chemical process analysis, thermodynamics of complex mixtures, and transport phenomena at catalyst and reactor scale.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • You hold a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering (or an equivalent), to be fulfilled at the start of the appointment. For diplomas awarded outside the EU, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
  • Prior research experience in kinetic and reactor modelling, transport phenomena, and thermodynamics.
  • Recognised as a promising researcher during your doctorate.
  • Strong interest in coaching students at Bachelor, Master and Advanced Master levels.
  • Published relevant scientific articles in (inter)national peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Good knowledge of programming languages such as Python and Fortran.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
  • Residing in Belgium or willing to stay in Belgium during the research period.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
  • Temporary appointment of 1 year, with possibility of a second appointment up to 3 years based on evaluation.
  • Appointment starts no earlier than 1 February 2026.
