Umicore is seeking a People & Organization Business Partner to join our Hoboken site. You will support the Purchasing & Transportation and Corporate R&D areas, building capabilities and leadership, blending strategic advice with execution.

You will report to the Head of P&O BG Recycling & CTO and work from Olen and Hoboken, with regular business presence. This role requires HR leadership experience in a complex, international environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Human Resources, labor or social law, psychology, business, or related field (equivalent exp considered).
• 5+ years in HR or People & Organization, with proven Business Partner experience in international org.
• Experience advising and coaching senior leaders and management teams.

What you will be doing

We are currenntly looking for a People & Organization Business Partner to join our Umicore site in Hoboken. In this role you will support thePurchasing & Transportation (P&T) and Corporate Research and Development (CRD) areas, which are knowledge-intensive environments where innovation, technology, and collaboration are central. You will help both organizations build the capabilities, leadership, and organizational foundations they need to succeed. You will combine strategic advice with visible execution and build sustainable relationships with leaders, employees, and P&O colleagues.

You will report to the Head of P&O BG Recycling & CTO, serve as a member of the P&T and CRD management teams, and work from Olen and Hoboken, with regular presence in the business.

Your Key Accountabilities

• Translate the strategy and priorities of P&T and CRD into a focused people agenda with clear actions, ownership, and follow-through.
• Serve as an active member of both management teams, advising and coaching leaders on people and organizational decisions.
• Lead the annual talent, performance, and succession processes across your scope, helping leaders build talent pipelines, succession plans, and future capabilities.
• Guide organizational design, workforce planning, role design, and operating model changes, from analysis and decision-making through implementation and adoption.
• Support leaders and teams through transformations and structural change, ensuring meaningful stakeholder engagement and a consistent change approach.
• Turn People Survey results into targeted engagement actions and help strengthen a culture of accountability, development, collaboration, and inclusion.
• Advise on employee relations and labor law matters, ensure the application of P&O policies and local legislation, and elevate complex cases when appropriate.
• Identify people and organizational risks early, clarify options and implications, and support sound decision-making.
• Partner with leaders on resource and capability planning, support hiring for critical positions, and contribute to the effective onboarding and integration of key hires.
• Connect the business with Talent & Development, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, P&O Operations, and global and regional P&O Centers of Expertise to deliver integrated, practical solutions.

Who we are looking for

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Human Resources, labor or social law, psychology, business, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
• 5+ years of experience in Human Resources or People & Organization, including demonstrated success as a Business Partner in a complex or international organization.
• Experience advising and coaching senior leaders and management teams.
• Demonstrated expertise across several of the following areas: organizational development, organizational design, change management, talent and succession management, performance management, workforce planning, and employee relations.
• Sufficient knowledge of labor law and employee relations to recognize risk, provide sound guidance, and involve specialized expertise at the right time.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to turn complex topics into clear choices and practical actions.
• A constructive and courageous style: you listen, connect different perspectives, and respectfully challenge leaders when needed.
• Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills, combined with a pragmatic approach and a commitment to execution.
• The ability to set priorities independently while collaborating effectively across a broad P&O community.
• Professional fluency in Dutch and English.
