Vrije Universiteit Brussel invites applications for a part-time professor in the Faculty of Sciences and Bioengineering Sciences, focused on microfluidics, microreactors and related research. The appointee will co-instruct, supervise theses, and contribute to the µFlow Team and external projects.

The role requires a PhD in Sciences or (Bio-)Engineering, at least four years postdoc, teaching experience, and expertise in COMSOL Multiphysics and CAD.

Qualifications

• PhD in Sciences or (Bio-)Engineering Sciences.
• Postdoctoral experience of at least four years.
• Experience teaching university-level courses and supervising Master’s/PhD students.
• Proficiency in COMSOL Multiphysics and CAD software.
• Ability to develop microfluidic chip fabrication processes.

Responsabilités

• Instruct a 6 ECTS Microfluidics course and deliver about half the lectures.
• Supervise Master’s and PhD theses as (co-)supervisor.
• Organize workshops and training courses within the µFlow context.
• Develop microfluidic applications using silicon, glass and polymers.
• Develop fabrication process flows and experimental setups.
• Run numerical simulations (COMSOL) to study fluidic systems.
• Contribute to the µFlow Team and supervise funded projects.
