An intergovernmental organization located in Brussels is seeking a Policy Officer to support the Digital Policy Committee. The successful candidate will provide high-level administrative support, including planning meetings and drafting documentation. Candidates should have a degree in political science or a related field, along with at least three years of experience in a complex environment. Proficiency in NATO's official languages is required. The Cyber and Digital Transformation Division (CDTD) provides a coordinated approach for NATO to the security and defence challenges of the 21st century. It serves as the NATO Headquarters’ focal point for cyber defence strategy, cyber security, digital transformation and hybrid policy, including NATO’s energy security agenda.
The Strategy and Policy Directorate acts as the Division’s strategic centre of gravity. It is responsible for shaping NATO’s strategic direction in digital, cyber, and counter‑hybrid matters and for developing and implementing related NATO policies.
The Digital Strategy and Policy (DSP) Section enables the Alliance to anticipate change, harness innovation, and maintain a decisive digital advantage through strategic leadership, analytical rigour, and close collaboration with Allies, NATO bodies, and external partners. DSP develops, maintains, and advances NATO’s Digital Strategy and associated policies, conducts strategic foresight analysis on Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs), and delivers digital architecture frameworks and products that foster interoperability, standardisation, and coherence across NATO’s digital and cyber capabilities. These activities ensure NATO’s Digital Transformation remains strategically aligned, forward‑looking, and resilient to technological change.
The Officer provides policy advice and also committee secretarial support to the Digital Policy Committee (DPC), including planning and organising meetings and associated events. The incumbent prepares and distributes agendas, shares documents and presentations with the Allies, and drafts the records of the meetings. The incumbent also prepares speeches and speaking notes for senior officials as directed. The incumbent also contributes to the development and coordination of divisional policy initiatives, monitors emerging trends in digital transformation, and supports the alignment of divisional activities with broader organisational strategies.

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Head of Section for Digital Strategy and Policy and in close coordination with the Division’s Executive and Coherence Management Office. The incumbent maintains regular contact with National Delegations and Representatives to the DPC; staff across the Division and other NATO entities; senior policy committees and their respective Secretariats; and external stakeholders, including industry representatives and Partner Nations.
Contract to be offered to the successful applicant (if non‑seconded): Definite duration contract of three years; possibility of renewal for up to three years, during which the incumbent may apply for conversion to an indefinite duration contract.
NOTE: Irrespective of previous qualifications and experience, candidates for twin‑graded posts will be appointed at the lower grade. Advancement to the higher grade is not automatic, and will not normally take place during the first three years of service in the post. Under specific circumstances, serving staff members may be appointed directly to the higher grade, and a period of three years might be reduced by up to twenty four months for external candidates.
Serving staff will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.
