NewCold Automation is seeking a driven MFCS Engineer to strengthen our automation team in Herentals, Belgium. You will configure, program, test and commission the MFCS software that controls warehouse processes and material flow.

You will collaborate with PLC and commissioning engineers across international projects, ensuring seamless integration with WMS, conveyors and crane systems, and you will train operators to maintain reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, ICT, Industrial Automation or similar.
• Proficient in C# programming.
• Interest in automated logistics systems and process control.
• Experience with material handling systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• English and Dutch communication skills.

NewCold Automation (NCA) continuously seeks the most efficient ways to control Material Handling Equipment (MHE), minimizing operational downtime and maintenance while enhancing ease of use for operators and maintenance personnel. About The Vacancy

NCA is responsible for upholding high‑quality standards in E&I design and PLC software for conveyors, monorails, and cranes.

NCA consists of four groups that work closely together to design, procure, install, and commission all software and electronic components related to these systems.

Colleagues of each discipline take care of commissioning and leveraging their deep knowledge of the electronic components and software used in AS/RS, conveyors, and monorail systems.

Our Project Managers and Supply Chain Manager work closely with NewCold MHE Project Managers to ensure that technical solutions align with schedules and budgets.

Beyond engineering, NCA ensures that electrical installations comply with NewCold’s standards and that all systems are properly commissioned. NCA employees are primarily located in Europe (Belgium and Italy) and the United States.

In addition to design and installation, NCA is responsible for aftersales support, providing PLC troubleshooting, spare parts management, and 24/7, year‑round assistance.

We are looking for a driven and skilled MFCS Engineer to strengthen our automation and engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring, programming, testing and commissioning the Material Flow Control System that controls and monitors the automated material flow within our high‑tech warehouse environments. You will collaborate closely with software, PLC and commissioning engineers to ensure seamless system performance and reliable logistics operations.

• Program, configure, test and commission the MFCS software used to manage automated warehouse processes.
• Analyse system behavior and material flow sequences to ensure proper functionality and optimal performance
• Collaborate with PLC Engineers, Crane Commissioning Engineers and site teams to ensure full system integration.
• Perform functional tests, error analysis and troubleshooting during the commissioning phase.
• Validate communication between MFCS, PLC software, WMS and field equipment.
• Document system configurations, test results and operational parameters.
• Support go‑live activities and assist in stabilising system performance after startup.
• Train operators and maintenance personnel in understanding and working with the MFCS system.
• Participate in multiple international projects.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, ICT, Industrial Automation or similar.
• The C# programming language holds no secrets for you.
• Strong interest in automated logistics systems and process control.
• Experience with industrial automation software or material handling systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to interpret system workflows, diagrams and technical documentation.
• Good communication skills in English and Dutch.
• A proactive, structured and solution‑oriented mindset.
• Team player with the ability to work independently when required.
