Job summary

HRConsul in Zeebrugge is seeking a Safety Officer who will be present on the yard and on board vessels to monitor activities, assess risks and ensure safety measures are applied consistently.

You will conduct safety rounds, inspections and audits, prepare and update risk assessments, and provide practical safety advice to crews, employees and subcontractors, coordinating with superintendents and technical staff to maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Be present on the yard and on board vessels daily to monitor activities, risks and safety measures.
• Carry out safety rounds, inspections and audits to identify unsafe situations and technical risks, and quickly implement the necessary corrective actions.
• Address and raise awareness among employees and subcontractors, and ensure safety rules are applied correctly.
• Prepare, update and follow up risk assessments, safety procedures and action points.
• Monitor safety during maintenance and repair activities, including the safe isolation of work areas and technical installations.
• Provide practical safety advice and discuss improvement points with Superintendents, technical staff, naval personnel, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Ensure proper administrative follow-up and reporting on safety and prevention.
