Job Description

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a quality-driven, people-focused leader to join our Clinical Supply Chain organization as Manager, Temperature Strategy & Execution.

In this role, you will lead the strategy, governance, and execution of temperature‑controlled distribution processes that support global clinical trials. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of temperature‑sensitive investigational products throughout the distribution network while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and patient safety.

This position combines strategic leadership with operational oversight. You will lead a team of temperature management professionals, oversee passive shipping solution lifecycle management, drive temperature excursion resolution processes, and serve as a key subject matter expert during audits and inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Temperature Strategy & Governance
  • Develop and execute the Temperature Strategy & Execution roadmap for Clinical Supply Chain.
  • Establish governance models and global standards for temperature management processes.
  • Drive process harmonization, operational excellence, and long‑term capability development.
  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to align temperature management strategies with evolving business and clinical needs.
  • Support the development of innovative temperature management solutions for advanced therapies and emerging modalities.
  • Own Passive Shipper Lifecycle Management
  • Lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle management of passive shipping solutions used across global clinical distribution networks.
  • Define qualification strategies, thermal performance standards, and transportation risk management approaches.
  • Oversee supplier selection, qualification, deployment, and performance monitoring.
  • Drive continuous improvement opportunities to enhance reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Ensure Excellence in Temperature Excursion Management, Compliance & Audits
  • Provide oversight of Temperature Out of Range (TOR) processes, including prioritization, investigation coordination, escalation, and closure.
  • Partner closely with Quality and operational teams to manage excursions, deviations, CAPAs, and trend analysis.
  • Serve as the functional subject matter expert during audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
  • Ensure processes remain compliant with GxP regulations, global procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen inspection readiness and operational robustness.
  • Lead and Develop a High‑Performing Team
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and day‑to‑day supervision for the Temperature Strategy & Execution team.
  • Set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery of critical business objectives.
  • Establish performance expectations, development plans, and succession strategies.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in temperature‑controlled logistics.
  • Advance digitization, automation, and data‑driven decision‑making capabilities.
  • Leverage analytics and performance metrics to reduce operational risk and optimize distribution performance.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that improve compliance, service levels, patient supply reliability, and cost effectiveness.
Qualifications
Education

Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Logistics, Quality, or a related discipline.

APICS, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent certification is preferred.

Required Experience
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical supply chain, temperature‑controlled logistics, clinical supply chain, packaging engineering, quality assurance, or a related field.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including team supervision, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strong expertise in cold‑chain distribution, passive shipping systems, and transportation risk management.
  • Experience working in regulated environments and supporting audits and inspections.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
Preferred Experience
  • Quality Assurance experience within pharmaceutical, clinical supply, logistics, or distribution environments.
  • Experience managing temperature excursions, deviations, investigations, and CAPAs.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Supply Chain operations.
  • Experience supporting advanced therapies and temperature‑sensitive products.
  • Supplier qualification and vendor management experience.
  • Global process ownership and governance experience.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€79,800.00 - €137,770.00

Benefits

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
