Albemarle Corporation seeks a Manager Regulatory Affairs, Europe in Belgium. This hybrid role, based in Louvain-la-Neuve, involves working from home at least four days per week and coordinating with the External Affairs team.

Five+ years in environment/chemicals, REACH/CLP experience, and a Master’s degree are required. English is the working language; other European languages are a plus. You will shape EU regulation strategy and engage with regulators and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in environment, sustainability, chemicals or raw materials.
• Experience with European institutions, trade associations, corporations or NGOs.
• Knowledge of REACH, CLP, eco-design and/or circular economy.
• English as working language; other European languages advantageous.
• Experience advising business leaders with timely regulatory information.

Responsabilités

• Monitor EU regulatory developments relevant to lithium, bromine and related value chains.
• Translate regulatory developments into clear business implications for internal stakeholders.
• Develop the company’s strategy on EU regulatory matters for lithium and bromine products.
• Lead individual regulatory initiatives and projects (REACH, CLP, OSH, IED, Circular Economy, Water Framework Directive, ESPR).
• Engage regulators, trade associations and external stakeholders; coordinate with External Affairs.
• Prepare internal briefings, position papers, responses and advocacy materials.

Job Description

Albemarle is hiring for a Manager Regulatory Affairs, Europe. This position is hybrid, and located in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.

What You Will Do

The Manager Regulatory Affairs, Europe will work on all regulatory initiatives of relevance to Albemarle, reporting to the Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, Europe and coordinating with other relevant functions across the company. The role will focus on identifying, assessing and helping shape EU regulatory developments that may affect Albemarle's lithium and bromine businesses, ensuring timely internal alignment and business‑relevant guidance. The Manager will work from home at least four days per week and will be part of the External Affairs team based in Belgium. The office location is Louvain-la-Neuve.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess EU regulatory developments relevant to lithium, bromine and related value chains.
• Translate complex regulatory developments into clear business implications for internal stakeholders.
• Work with the Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, Europe to develop the company’s overall strategy on EU regulatory matters for lithium and bromine products.
• Take the lead on individual regulatory initiatives and projects. Relevant files include, but are not limited to, REACH, CLP, OSH, the Industrial Emissions Directive, the Circular Economy Package, the Water Framework Directive and the ESPR.
• Engage with regulators, trade associations and other external stakeholders to explain Albemarle’s technical and regulatory positions, in coordination with the External Affairs team.
• Prepare internal briefings, position papers, consultation responses and advocacy materials.

What You Bring

• At least five years of experience in a relevant field such as environment, sustainability, chemicals or raw materials.
• Previous work experience in European institutions, trade associations, corporations or NGOs.
• Relevant experience in chemicals management, REACH, CLP, eco-design and/or circular economy.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field. A scientific background, such as chemistry, chemical engineering or environmental science, is an advantage.
• The working language is English. Knowledge of another European language would be an advantage.
• Experience providing counsel and timely information to business leaders.
• Background in the chemicals or raw materials industry, or in another relevant sector.
• Experience in project management would be an advantage.
• Strong analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory and technical issues into clear, business-oriented advice.
