Ghent Transport & Storage Operations in Ghent seeks a Maintenance Assistant to oversee daily upkeep of our fleet of wheel loaders, excavators, bulldozers and other machinery at two Ghent terminals.

You perform preventive maintenance, lubrication, parts replacement, diagnose faults, keep records, and ensure machines are safe and ready for use. A hands-on, responsible mindset and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical or mechanical background as a prerequisite.
• Strong interest in maintenance of mobile equipment.
• Solid basic knowledge of mechanics and practical insight.
• Experience with wheel loaders, skid steer loaders, excavators, bulldozers or similar machinery is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Perform daily maintenance of the fleet of mobile equipment.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on various machinery.
• Lubrication, replace wear parts and minor repairs.
• Diagnose mechanical defects and carry out necessary repairs.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report signs of wear or issues.
• Ensure machines are safe and ready for use after maintenance or repairs.
• Assist with maintenance of other installations at terminals when required.
• Identify complex issues and involve technicians or external support as needed.
• Keep maintenance records and complete checklists.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Occasionally perform minor cleaning tasks.
• Work at two terminals in the Port of Ghent.
