Fugro Belgium is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Geotechnical Laboratory in Louvain-la-Neuve. The role involves handling soil and material samples, running tests, operating data-logging equipment, and ensuring accurate data processing.

Travel to the UK for a 3-month training period and occasional UK visits are expected. Candidates should be fluent in French and English, and comfortable with manual lab work while following established procedures.

Qualifications

• Fluent in French and English.
• Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills; Excel proficiency required.
• 1–5 years of experience preferred; newcomers welcomed.
• Good organization; able to work alone or in a team.
• Attention to detail and strict adherence to procedures.
• Willingness to travel to the UK and work on vessels.
• Willingness to learn advanced testing methods.

Responsabilités

• Open liners and identify soil types; sub-sample soils.
• Perform geotechnical lab tests with safety and quality standards.
• Assess test results against technical expectations.
• Record and process test data using worksheets and spreadsheets.
• Calibrate, clean and verify lab instruments; maintain calibration records.
• Work independently while following procedures.
• Contribute to daily lab operations.

Laboratory Technician – Core Logging

Fugro Belgium is looking for a motivated, detail‑driven Laboratory Technician to join our Geotechnical Laboratory in Louvain‑la‑Neuve. This hands‑on technical role involves handling soil and material samples, running laboratory tests, operating computer‑controlled data‑logging equipment, and ensuring accurate, high‑quality data processing.

Required flexibility: occasional travel to Wallingford (UK) for a 3‑month training period and the occasional UK visit. A willingness to work independently, follow established procedures, and occasionally engage in physical laboratory work is essential.

Responsibilities

• Core‑log open liners and identify types of soil, describing and sub‑sampling soils.
• Perform geotechnical laboratory tests with the highest safety and quality standards, including hands‑on sample preparation and equipment handling.
• Assess whether test results meet technical expectations and peer‑review requirements.
• Record and process test data accurately using worksheets and spreadsheets.
• Calibrate, clean, and verify laboratory instruments, and maintain calibration records.
• Work independently while following established procedures and protocols.
• Contribute to daily practical operations of the laboratory.

Qualifications

• Fluency in French and English.
• Solid general education, ideally including English, mathematics and science.
• 1–5 years of experience preferred; motivated newcomers welcomed.
• Strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills (Excel proficiency required).
• Good organization and ability to work alone or with a team.

• Basic understanding of scientific or technical principles (physics, mechanics, materials).
