International Organization for Migration (IOM) Belgium/Luxembourg seeks a Project Assistant to support the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) Unit in implementing activities and developing new initiatives. The role involves research, meeting coordination, and drafting reports.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a related field and experience in project management or migration topics.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Dutch or French is required (oral and written).
  • Experience in project management, reporting or monitoring and evaluation is advantageous.

Responsabilités

  • Assist the LMI Head of Unit and Project Management Teams with the implementation and follow‑up on project activities, including research tasks and logistical organization of meetings and events.
  • Draft/format meeting reports, minutes, routine correspondence, and IOM documents and forms related to operational matters.
  • Support development of new projects and proposals in Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion; draft concept notes and project proposals.
  • Contribute to drafting public information documents, website articles, press releases, and information dissemination to stakeholders.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the team.

Context

Under the direct supervision of the project manager and under the guidance of the Head of Unit for Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) and under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in the Country Office for Belgium and Luxembourg, the incumbent will assist the LMI Head of Unit with the implementation of projects of the IOM Country Office. In addition to this, the incumbent will be expected to support some activities related to the development of new projects in the LMI Team.

I. ASSIST WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECTS
  • In close coordination with the LMI Head of Unit, assist the Project Management Teams with the implementation and follow‑up on project activities. This includes supporting the team with research tasks, administrative tasks and the (logistical) organization of meetings and events.
  • Assist with the drafting/ formatting of meeting reports and minutes; routine correspondence, type letters, reports and memoranda as well as IOM documents and forms related to IOM operational and administrative matters;
  • Assist the Project Management Team with the development of new projects and initiatives in the field of Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion. This includes assistance with the drafting/ formatting of concept notes and project proposals.
  • Assist in drafting/ formatting public information documents, website articles, press releases and information dissemination on IOM activities towards public and private stakeholders.
  • Any other tasks as may be required.
II. ASSIST WITH POLICY SUPPORT AND OUTREACH
  • Assist in identifying possible partnerships with the private sector, civil society (NGOs, diaspora associations, etc.) and other stakeholders (such as the Belgian government and universities) in order to improve knowledge on migration initiatives and policies.
  • Assist with the drafting/ formatting of presentations and speeches related to integration for the LMI Head of Unit or the Chief of Mission.
  • Prepare for, participate in and follow‑up on meetings/conferences on behalf of the organization.
  • Any other tasks as may be required.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in economics, social science, migration studies or related field from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience.
  • Completed High School degree with three years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience
  • Demonstrated first working experience or internship in the area of project management, reporting or monitoring and evaluation of projects;
  • Demonstrated first working experience or internship in the area of migrant integration or labour migration;
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Experience in liaison with non‑governmental organizations, national, regional and international authorities and institutions is an advantage.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
