Catalyx in Belgium is seeking a Junior Machine Vision Engineer to join our team. You will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of machine vision systems within industrial automation projects.

You will work with engineering teams, vendors, and customers to deliver production-ready solutions while meeting technical specifications and industry standards. Travel domestically and internationally is possible as projects require.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Computer Engineering (vision component preferred).
• Availability to work evening and weekend hours or varying work patterns depending on project needs.
• Availability to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsabilités

• Define the scope of machine vision projects with customers and sales leadership.
• Design optical configurations to meet inspection requirements in target environments.
• Perform sample testing and POC's to verify designs.
• Take ownership of the design and development of machine vision systems for custom projects.
• Conceptualize, design, and confirm technical specifications and bills of materials.
• Oversee equipment assessment, ordering, and verification to meet customer needs.
• Ensure designs align with Catalyx and industry standards.
• Support development, testing, and installation phases to ensure production-readiness.
• Act as primary technical contact for machine vision design and risk evaluation.
• Escalate machine vision issues during build, installation, and warranty phases.
• Collaborate on procurement, training, and upskilling; assist in sales technical meetings.
• Meet with vendors to confirm component selection and stay informed on new tech.

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Vision Systems Engineer to join our team, where you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of advanced machine vision systems.

The Role

As a Machine Vision Systems Engineer, you will be at the front end of the design, development, and deployment of custom machine vision systems within industrial automation projects. You will be responsible for ensuring these systems meet all technical specifications, adhere to industry standards, and satisfy customer requirements. This role requires close collaboration with engineering teams, vendors, and customers to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers and sales leadership to define the scope of machine vision projects.
• Design the optical configurations for meeting inspection requirements within the constraints of the target environment.
• Perform sample testing and POC’s to verify designs.
• Take ownership of the design and development of machine vision systems for custom industrial automation projects.
• Conceptualize, design, and confirm technical specifications and bills of material for machine vision systems.
• Provide oversight for equipment assessment, ordering, and verification, ensuring that final hardware and software meet customer needs.
• Ensure that designs align with Catalyx and industry standards and meet all specified requirements.
• Oversee and support the development, testing, and installation phases, ensuring systems are production-ready and meet design specifications.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for machine vision system design, providing guidance in risk evaluation and technical matters.
• Act as the escalation point for machine vision-related issues during the build, installation, and warranty phases.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on procurement, training, and upskilling, and assist in sales technical meetings as needed.
• Meet with vendors to confirm component selection and stay informed on new technologies in machine vision and control systems.
• Analyze existing procedures, suggest improvements, and support the creation of design and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution (vision component preferred)
• Availability to work evening and weekend hours or varying work patterns depending on project needs.
• Availability to travel domestically and internationally.

Required Skills:

• Preferable experience with existing Machine Vision Platforms such as Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, OpenCV or Tensorflow (Cognex platform preferred)
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages and machine vision technologies (C#, C++ or Python preferred)
• Understanding and knowledge of computer vision solutions and principles including image acquisition, optics, lighting, algorithm development, object detection, segmentation, and recognition, AI neural networks, 3D imaging, and metrology inspections
• Fluent in English, Dutch and/or French. Ideally have a knowledge of German
