Rhox is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our backend teams delivering Java and Spring Boot microservices in a containerised, cloud-enabled environment. You will contribute across analysis, design, development, testing and integration within cross-functional Scrum teams.

You will design and implement integration points, ensure reliable deployments with Docker and Kubernetes, and align with enterprise architecture across hardware, OS, networking, databases, middleware and security.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in Java development with Spring Boot.
• Ability to design, build, test, and integrate microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes and cloud development.

A major financial institution is delivering backend services for core digital and operational platforms through agile product teams. The work uses Java and Spring Boot microservices, runs in Docker and Kubernetes, and includes cloud development. As a senior Java Developer, you will contribute across analysis, design, development, testing, and integration while considering the wider technical architecture.

The mission

Delivery is organised through small cross-functional Scrum teams that commit to a sprint backlog and produce a tested, integrated product increment. The technical landscape includes Java application services, container platforms, cloud components, and integrations with infrastructure and, where relevant, distributed or mainframe technologies. The role requires a broad view of hardware, operating systems, networking, databases, middleware, development tools, standards, and security procedures, because reliable delivery depends on how these layers work together.

As part of the agile team, you will contribute beyond a single specialist area, moving between analysis, design, coding, testing, and integration as the sprint requires. You will turn prioritised backlog items into maintainable services and support the team in delivering usable increments at the end of each sprint. Your work will connect Java and Spring Boot development with containerisation, cloud development, integration components, and operational quality. Open communication, knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and practical improvement of delivery methods are part of the role.

Your responsibilities

• Deliver tested Java and Spring Boot microservices that complete prioritised sprint backlog items and integrate into broader product increments.
• Design integration points across distributed and mainframe technologies and infrastructure components.
• Build and maintain containerised services with Docker and Kubernetes, applying cloud development practices suitable for reliable deployment.
• Analyse functional and technical needs, translate them into clear designs, and validate behaviour through appropriate testing.
• Apply architecture principles, development standards, security procedures, and tools across hardware, operating systems, networking, databases, and middleware dependencies.
• Strengthen sprint outcomes through clear communication, knowledge sharing, cross-functional collaboration, and improvements to delivery and operational quality.

Your profile

Essential skills

• 3+ years of relevant experience in Java development, with expert-level use of Spring Boot.
• Ability to design, build, test, and integrate microservices.
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud development.
• Excellent understanding of architecture across hardware, operating systems, networking, databases, and middleware.
• Knowledge of development methods, standards, security procedures, and development tools.
• Working knowledge of agile methodology and the ability to collaborate according to focused, committed, open, respectful, and courageous Scrum values.
• Strong analysis, communication, knowledge-sharing, and team collaboration skills.

Preferred skills

• Experience with integration across distributed and mainframe technologies and infrastructure components.
• Cloud development experience on IBM Cloud, including DMZR, plus exposure to KESMA and Elastic.
• Hands-on experience with Scrum.

Languages
