Phoenix Technologies Belgium is seeking a seasoned data engineer and backend developer to design and maintain data pipelines and microservices, with a focus on data engineering and scalable backend systems. You'll work with Java 21, Python and Go, explore greenfield components, set up ELT processes, and integrate data from sources to the data lake and data warehouse.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in software development and/or data engineering.
• Experience with one or more backend languages (e.g. Java, Python, Go).
• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, Aurora PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (AWS CloudFormation) and DevOps principles.
• Strong communicator and team player.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum.
• Experience with a CMS (content management system).
• Open-minded, eager to learn and willing to question existing assumptions.
• Good knowledge of Dutch.

• You have at least 5 years of experience in software development and/or data engineering, preferably in complex or large-scale projects.
• You have experience with one or more backend languages (e.g. Java, Python, Go).
• You have experience with AWS Services such as lambda, sqs, eventbridge, aurora postgresql and dynamodb.
• You have experience with Infrastructure as Code (AWS CloudFormation) and DevOps principles.
• You are a strong communicator and a real team player.
• You have experience working in an Agile/Scrum team.
• You have experience with a CMS (content management system).
• You are open-minded, eager to learn and willing to question existing assumptions.
• You have a good knowledge of Dutch.

In addition, you also have the following experience and skills:

• You have experience in the media sector.
• You have experience with container technology (Docker) and CI/CD.
• You have experience with event-driven architectures and layered construction within microservices.
• You have knowledge of design patterns such as observer/listener, chain of responsibility, strategy.
• You have experience with Quarkus.
• You have a knowledge of data architecture, ELT processes and workflow orchestration (e.g. Apache Airflow).
