ALTIA is seeking a Junior Java Software Engineer in Belgium to join an international project for a major European organization, focusing on backend development, API design, and secure services.

You will contribute to the full software lifecycle, implementing RESTful APIs, managing relational databases, and collaborating with global teams to deliver scalable solutions, with Brussels as the delivery location and some remote options.

Qualifications

• EQF Level 7 qualification or EQF Level 6 qualification + a minimum of 2 years of professional IT experience.
• English or French level B2 or higher, both written and spoken.
• Experience in back-end development with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, WebLogic, JEE, and EJB.
• Experience designing, building, and securing REST APIs and web services, including OpenAPI / Swagger.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL, including complex SQL and database design.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Junior Java Software Engineer to join an international project for a major European organization, working on high-impact international projects.

You will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and security of back-end applications and services using Java technologies, including the development and integration of REST APIs and web services, database design, and collaboration throughout the software development lifecycle.

MUST have for this challenge

• EQF Level 7 qualification or EQF Level 6 qualification + a minimum of 2 years of professional IT experience.
• English or French level B2 or higher, both written and spoken.
• Experience in back-end development with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, WebLogic, JEE, and EJB.
• Experience designing, building, and securing REST APIs and web services, including OpenAPI / Swagger.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL, including complex SQL and database design.

Nice to have

• CI/CD and build tools such as Maven, GitLab, Bamboo, Jenkins, and Nexus, as well as Jira, Git
• Experience with unit and integration testing using JUnit and Mockito.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, as well as authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
• Experience with Application Performance Monitoring using Dynatrace, Agile/Scrum methodologies, incident management, and monitoring of environments and production systems.
• Leadership Ability.
