We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Category Buyer IT/IS who will also assume responsibility as Team Leader for the Indirect Procurement Team. This dual-role position combines strategic procurement expertise in Information Technology and Information Systems with people leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate will develop and execute sourcing strategies, optimize supplier relationships, drive cost and value improvements, and lead a team of procurement professionals supporting indirect procurement activities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for IT and Information Systems categories in collaboration with Global Category Managers and key stakeholders.
- Manage the full procurement lifecycle, including sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiations, supplier performance management, and risk assessment.
- Partner with IT and business stakeholders to understand operational and strategic requirements and convert them into effective procurement solutions.
- Drive value creation through cost optimization, innovation, and supplier collaboration.
- Monitor market developments, technology trends, and supplier capabilities to ensure access to competitive and innovative solutions.
- Manage procurement activities related to IT hardware, software, cloud services, telecommunications, and digital solutions.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
- Support supplier relationship management initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement programs.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of procurement professionals responsible for indirect purchasing activities.
- Set team objectives, monitor performance, and conduct regular performance and development reviews.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture focused on customer service, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate workload distribution and resource planning to ensure timely execution of procurement projects and business requirements.
- Promote procurement best practices and ensure effective use of procurement systems, tools, and processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to optimize indirect spend management and strengthen stakeholder engagement.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive procurement transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Procurement, or a related field.
- Master's degree or professional procurement certification is considered an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT/IS procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships.
- Previous experience leading, coaching, or managing procurement teams.
- Strong knowledge of IT procurement categories, including hardware, software licensing, SaaS, cloud services, telecommunications, and managed services.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
