Barco Labs invites a Bachelor student to join the Internship - Software Quality & Test Automation in Kortrijk, Belgium. You will help improve automated testing for a software library that reads and processes digital pathology images.

You will design and implement tests for image access, metadata extraction, and performance across varied datasets, while contributing to testing infrastructure and benchmarking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics-ICT, or a related field.
• Strong Python and/or C++ programming skills.
• Interest in software quality, testing and automation.
• Understanding of software engineering principles and good coding practices.
• Experience with Linux/Docker and Git (GitHub).
• Fluent spoken and written English.

About the internship

Are you interested in software quality, automation, and healthcare technology? At Barco, you'll contribute to the development of software that enables efficient access to Whole Slide Images (WSIs), the large digital images used in modern pathology workflows.

During this internship, you will help improve the automated testing and validation framework of a software library used to read and process digital pathology images. Your work will focus on designing and implementing automated tests to validate image access, metadata extraction, format compatibility, and software performance across a wide range of image datasets.

You will also contribute to the development of testing infrastructure, benchmarking tools, and reporting mechanisms that help ensure the long‑term reliability and quality of the software used in visualization, AI, and image analysis applications.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics-ICT, or a related field
• Good programming skills in Python and/or C++
• Interest in software quality, testing, and automation
• Understanding of software engineering principles and good coding practices
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skillsExperience with Linux/Docker
• Experience with Git (GitHub) and collaborative software development
• Experience with LLM in development
• Fluent spoken and written communication in English

Experience with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD workflows, performance benchmarking, image processing, or scientific computing is a plus.
