About the Role

We are supporting a well-established European financial services group, recognised for its strong values, long-term vision and commitment to innovation, in the recruitment of a Head of AI & Data Science for its Luxembourg office.

In an increasingly competitive market, the organisation is accelerating its digital and AI-driven transformation. This role sits at the heart of that strategy and focuses on leveraging Artificial Intelligence where it creates clear, measurable business value.

The group is looking for an experienced and inspiring leader who can combine AI strategy, hands‑on delivery and change management, while working closely with business, IT, data governance and compliance teams.

Your Mission

Reporting to senior management, you will lead the AI & Data Science function and play a key role in translating AI opportunities into operational improvements and tangible outcomes across the organisation.

Your role will be both strategic and execution‑oriented, with a strong focus on impact, scalability and adoption.

1. Lead & Develop the AI & Data Science Team
  • Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team of Data Scientists and AI specialists

  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation and pragmatic problem‑solving

  • Act as a reference point for AI expertise across the organisation

2. Define & Execute the AI Strategy
  • Define and drive the applied AI strategy, aligned with business priorities and the group’s digital transformation roadmap

  • Identify high‑impact AI use cases across operations, customer journeys and internal processes

  • Ensure initiatives are prioritised based on business value, efficiency gains and ROI

3. From Use Case to Value
  • Translate business workflows into AI‑enabled processes, with a clear allocation of tasks between humans and AI

  • Build and manage AI roadmaps (quick wins, pilots, large‑scale deployments)

  • Challenge existing processes and redesign them to maximise automation and efficiency

4. End-to-End Delivery of AI Solutions
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of AI solutions:
    • design and modelling
    • validation and testing
    • industrialisation and deployment
    • user adoption and change management
  • Ensure solutions are robust, scalable and effectively adopted by end users
5. Governance, Ethics & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with GDPR, the European AI Act and responsible AI principles
  • Work closely with Data Governance and Compliance teams to ensure data quality, traceability and ethical use of AI
  • Contribute to the definition of AI standards, frameworks and guardrails across the group
6. Innovation & Change Enablement
  • Continuously monitor emerging AI approaches, tools and models
  • Assess their relevance and potential to accelerate value creation
  • Promote AI adoption through training, communication and change support for business teams
Your Profile
Experience & Expertise
  • 5–8+ years’ experience in applied AI, machine learning, data science or digital transformation
  • Strong understanding of developing, deploying and scaling ML models
  • Proven experience in:
    • designing PoCs
    • validating AI models
    • industrialising solutions in production environments
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into effective AI‑driven solutions
Leadership & Mindset
  • Proven people manager with strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Pragmatic, business‑oriented and impact‑driven approach
  • Comfortable driving change and working with senior stakeholders
Languages & Environment
  • Fluent in French
  • English strongly recommended
  • Experience in insurance or wealth management is a strong asset
