Description du poste

Arendt & Medernach is the leading independent business law firm in Luxembourg with over 800 professionals. The firm’s international team of more than 450 legal experts represents Luxembourg and foreign clients in all areas of Luxembourg business law from its main office in Luxembourg and representative offices in Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, New York, and Paris.

Our service to clients is differentiated by the end-to-end specialist advice we offer, covering all legal, regulatory, taxation, and advisory aspects of doing business in Luxembourg.

Our firm advises international and domestic clients in all areas of business law relevant to their business activities, ranging from fund formation, banking, insurance, private equity, and real estate to corporate and tax matters.

Given the ongoing development of our firm, we are currently recruiting:

Group Financial Controller

As the Group continues to expand geographically, we are creating a new Group Financial Controller position to strengthen the Finance function and support the increasing complexity of an international law firm environment. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role will help build scalable financial governance, robust reporting, and efficient processes across the Group, with a particular focus on foreign offices.

The successful candidate will play a central role in developing the financial infrastructure required to support the Group’s international growth, ensuring reliable financial information, strengthening compliance with laws and regulations, and establishing a consistent reporting and control framework. The role will also act as the single Finance point of contact for the partner responsible for the Group’s foreign offices.

Your role:
Treasury Management
  • Lead and oversee treasury management activities, supported by one full-time team member, including cash flow monitoring, liquidity planning, banking relationships, and related controls.
Financial reporting & consolidation
  • Review monthly accounting close activities and ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management reporting across the Group, with a particular focus on foreign offices.
  • Implement the group financial consolidation process, including methodology, timetable, reporting framework, and quality controls.
Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local laws and regulations, including accounting, statutory, and tax obligations.
  • Review and redesign the Group’s transfer pricing policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and evolving business operations.
Internal controls/process
  • Optimise finance and accounting processes across the Group, with a particular focus on foreign offices, to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Contribute to the development of internal controls, policies, and procedures to support a robust finance governance framework.
Stakeholder & External Provider Management
  • Manage relationships with external service providers, including accountants, tax advisers, auditors and other finance-related partners.
  • Act as the key Finance contact for the partner responsible for foreign offices, providing financial insight, coordination, and support on cross-border matters.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across offices to ensure consistent financial processes, reporting standards, and information flows.
Your profile:
  • Qualified finance professional, ideally with a degree in finance, accounting, audit, or a related discipline.
  • Proven ability to supervise, guide, and develop at least one finance team member while remaining hands-on in day-to-day financial operations.
  • Significant experience in financial control, audit or group reporting, preferably in a professional services, law firm, or multi-entity international environment.
  • Experience with treasury management, tax compliance, transfer pricing, and financial consolidation in a multi-GAAP environment.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, process improvement, and finance governance frameworks.
  • Hands-on, structured, and pragmatic mindset, with the ability to build processes in a newly created role.
  • Experience in cross-functional roles, with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across offices and seniority levels.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French would be an advantage.
  • High standards of integrity, discretion, and professionalism, consistent with a law firm environment.
