Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in compliance, risk management, audit, legal, or governance.
  • Proven ability to design and implement compliance frameworks, policies, controls, and governance structures.
  • Experience building a compliance function in a complex corporate environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and advisory capabilities.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical policies and guidance.

Responsabilités

  • Define, maintain, and improve the compliance governance framework across the organization.
  • Lead end-to-end regulatory compliance lifecycle from scanning to policy creation.
  • Support integration of compliance requirements into business processes and controls.
  • Monitor and test controls; identify gaps and drive remediation.
  • Manage issues and incidents from intake to closure and reporting.
  • Provide transparent management reporting on risk and compliance status.
  • Act as trusted advisor, promote integrity and accountability across teams.

As Group Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening Virya Energy's compliance framework and culture across the Group. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to establish governance structures, translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business standards, and embed compliance into processes, systems, and decision-making. By partnering with teams across the organization, monitoring compliance effectiveness, and driving continuous improvement, you will help ensure that integrity, accountability, and sustainable growth remain at the heart of everything we do.

Responsabilities:
  • Compliance governance: Define, maintain, and continuously improve the compliance governance framework, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, decision rights, escalation paths, and oversight mechanisms across the organization.
  • Regulatory compliance lifecycle: Lead the end-to-end regulatory compliance process, from regulatory scanning and interpretation to translating requirements into internal policies, standards, procedures, and guidance.
  • Business implementation: Support the implementation of compliance requirements into business processes, systems, controls, and organizational capabilities, partnering with business owners and subject-matter experts.
  • Controls monitoring and testing: Monitor and test the effectiveness of compliance controls, identify gaps or weaknesses, and support practical remediation and continuous improvement actions.
  • Issues and incident management: Manage compliance issues and incidents from intake and investigation through root-cause analysis, corrective action planning, follow-up, and closure.
  • Management reporting: Provide transparent reporting to management and relevant stakeholders on compliance status, key risks, control effectiveness, open issues, and remediation progress.
  • Advisory and awareness: Act as a trusted advisor to teams across the Group by providing clear compliance guidance, coordinating awareness initiatives, and promoting a culture of integrity and accountability.
Job Requirements
  • At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in compliance, risk management, audit, legal, or governance, including proven experience in establishing, building, and maturing a compliance function within a complex corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement compliance frameworks, policies, controls, and governance structures from the ground up, combining strategic vision with hands-on execution.
  • Comfortable operating in a newly created role, bringing structure where it does not yet exist and driving the continuous evolution of the Group's compliance maturity.
  • A trusted advisor to senior leadership, with the credibility and influence to act as a key partner to the executive sponsor for compliance and help drive the Group's compliance agenda.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks and the ability to translate external requirements into practical policies, controls, and business guidance.
  • Experience with compliance monitoring, control testing, issue management, incident handling, root-cause analysis, and remediation follow-up.
  • Excellent analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to assess regulatory and operational risks in a pragmatic, business-oriented manner.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior management, experts, and cross-functional teams.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, ownership, and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and growing international environment.
  • Interest in renewable energy, infrastructure, sustainability, and the energy transition is highly valued.
  • Fluency in English; a good command of Dutch and/or French is considered a strong asset.
