Qualifications

• Experience with functional analysis methods and process descriptions.
• UML and BPMN modelling experience is essential.
• Familiarity with Scrum and Agile principles is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
• Junior knowledge of Jira or Azure DevOps for project collaboration.
• Analytical skills in Excel (pivot tables, macros) and SQL basics.

What you will do

A Belgian public-sector organisation is modernising its biometric identification capabilities, replacing current fingerprint systems and introducing enhanced facial biometrics. You will join the team working on this programme, contributing to various judicial projects.

Your responsibilities include:

• Managing one or more functional processes in the analysis domain
• Analysing and modelling end-user needs
• Managing requirements: gathering, documenting and prioritising stakeholder requirements
• Writing detailed functional specifications
• Assessing the impact of proposed changes on existing systems and business processes
• Working closely with developers to ensure technical solutions meet functional needs
• Defining tests associated with these phases
• Acting as the main point of contact for the functional aspects assigned to you
• Developing and delivering user training where appropriate

What we are looking for

Technical skills

You have confirmed experience with:

• Functional analysis methods and process description techniques
• UML and BPMN modelling
• Scrum and Agile principles
• Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Yammer)

You also have junior-level knowledge of:

• Project management and collaboration tools: Jira or Azure DevOps
• Analysis and modelling tools: Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros), Visio or Draw.io
• UML modelling tools such as Enterprise Architect or open-source equivalents
• Databases and SQL: SQL Server or MySQL, writing SQL queries and data management
• Test management tools and test automation tools
• API management
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure or equivalent
• DevOps basics and continuous integration: Git, Jenkins
• IT security (ISO standards); knowledge of laboratory standards such as ISO 17025 is a plus

Prototyping skills are an asset: creating mock-ups or prototypes to visually illustrate proposed solutions.

This assignment runs from late October 2026 to the end of December 2026. You will be based in Brussels with hybrid working arrangements. The role is full-time.
