A leading Belgian university is seeking a full-time academic for the Faculty of Sciences, focusing on Didactics of Mathematics. The role includes teaching, research, and community service. A full‑time, potentially divisible academic position in the field of the “Didactics of Mathematics” within the Department of Mathematics. This position includes teaching and research activities as well as services to the community.
Depending on how the course load evolves and registrations in each course, the postholder will be involved in other teaching activities related to the didactics of mathematics (MSFE, supervising dissertations for students in the S4 Mathematics stream).
The selection procedure is aligned with the regulations applied within the University of Liège. Once applications have been screened for eligibility by members of the Committee, shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with the Committee, who will decide on the nature of the interview.

The position is awarded for a fixed term of four years. A permanent appointment may be made following a two‑fold evaluation carried out at the end of the third year, looking successively at: the field and the needs of the field to which the postholder has been appointed; the quality of the postholder. If the Board of Directors decides, for duly motivated reasons, to abandon this field of study, the evaluation procedure will come to an end, and the postholder will neither be evaluated nor appointed for a fixed term.

Basic appointments are made at the grade of lecturer. The gross monthly salary at the start of the scale (on a full‑time basis) is currently €5,992.58, to which is added an end‑of year allowance (in December) and a holiday allowance (in June). In exception circumstances, the Faculty may submit a substantiated application to obtain a higher grade in the salary scale (length‑of‑service bonus).
The career of full‑time teaching staff includes the grades of lecturer, professor, and full professor. Career development (after the recruitment grade) is possible through the promotions’ procedure, the terms and conditions of which are defined by the Board of Directors.
