We Are The Hive, Inc in Vilvoorde, Belgium, is hiring a permanent, full-time senior full-stack engineer to rebuild an ERP in Java 21 and Spring Boot and to inject AI into the platform and how we work. Remote, hybrid or on-site options available.

You will ship end-to-end features across Spring Boot services and Angular frontends, migrate domains from Symfony, and shape the tech choices, CI/CD and security posture in a production environment.

Formación

• 3+ years of professional full-stack development.
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong hands-on Angular and TypeScript.
• Experience with LLMs or AI tooling and context retrieval.
• Relational DB experience, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Comfortable with Docker, Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Willing to read and work with PHP/Symfony during the transition.
• Good judgment on AI usage and secure data handling.

Build AI that runs in production, not in a demo. Join our dev team to rebuild a busy ERP in Java 21 and Spring Boot, and to put AI into both the platform and the way we work. Remote, hybrid or in Vilvoorde.

At The Hive, we build the ERP behind budget proposals, workforce planning and contract management for a group of event and brand activation companies. Hundreds of people rely on it every day. We’re rebuilding its Symfony core in Java 21 and Spring Boot, service by service, while building AI into the platform itself. You’ll work on both. You’ll also have a real say in which technologies we adopt, how we use them, and where AI earns its place.

• We run on our own Linux servers, so you understand the whole system, from code to infrastructure.

YOUR FIRST 6 MONTHS

• Ship features end to end, from Spring Boot services to Angular frontends.
• Own a slice of the migration: extract a domain from the Symfony monolith into a production Spring Boot service, running alongside the old code.
• Ship your first AI feature to production. That could be an assistant that answers questions from our event documents, or tools that let AI query our platform data safely.
• Help shape how AI fits into our development workflow, from ticket to review to deploy, and how we work as a team because of it.

DAY TO DAY

• Build across the stack: Spring Boot, Angular, and occasionally our React Native (Expo) mobile apps
• Keep the migration moving and support the Symfony backend while it runs
• Build AI features: retrieval over our documents, MCP integrations, and workflow automation our clients can set up themselves
• Evaluate new AI tools and help decide what we adopt and what we don’t
• Make sure AI touches our data securely, with access control, data masking and clear limits on what a model can see

WHAT YOU BRING

• 3+ years of professional full-stack development
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot
• Strong hands-on Angular and TypeScript
• You’ve built something with LLMs, or you’re clearly driven to. That means something that calls a model, retrieves context or uses tools, not just a chat window.
• Solid relational database experience, ideally PostgreSQL
• Comfortable with Docker, Git and CI/CD
• Willing to read and work in PHP/Symfony during the transition
• Good judgment about AI: you know when it’s the right tool and when it isn’t, and you own and review the code it helps you write

NICE TO HAVE

• Embeddings or vector search (e.g. pgvector)
• MCP or agent tooling
• Migrating or decomposing a monolith
• React Native
• Running services on your own servers rather than a managed cloud
