adesso Belgium is expanding its freelance GIS network. As a Freelance GIS Specialist you’ll work on client projects across utilities, infrastructure, public sector, logistics, and asset management.

You'll design, configure, and maintain GIS solutions, work with geospatial data models and integrations, develop workflows, and support spatial analysis, visualization, and reporting. Fluency in English is required; Dutch or French is a strong advantage; hybrid Belgium work model offered.

Qualifications

• Seasoned GIS professional with hands-on experience in consulting environments.
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise, QGIS, and PostGIS.
• Strong skills in spatial databases, SQL, and Python for data workflows.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and business stakeholders.
• Fluent in English; Dutch and/or French are a strong advantage.

Your role

As a Freelance GIS Specialist, you will work on challenging client projects in sectors such as utilities, infrastructure, public sector, logistics, and asset management. Depending on the assignment, you may be involved in analysis, design, implementation, or optimization of GIS solutions.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Designing, configuring, and maintaining GIS solutions
• Working with geospatial data models, databases, and integrations
• Developing and optimizing GIS applications and workflows
• Supporting clients with spatial analysis, visualization, and reporting
• Collaborating with architects, developers, and functional consultants
• Contributing to workshops, assessments, or proof-of-concept activities

Your profile

We are looking for freelancers who bring both technical depth and consulting mindset:

• Strong experience as a GIS Specialist or GIS Developer
• Hands‑on knowledge of tools such as ArcGIS (Pro / Enterprise), QGIS, PostGIS, or similar
• Experience with spatial databases and data integration (e.g. SQL, Python)
• Familiarity with system integrations (e.g. ERP, asset management, or other enterprise platforms) is a plus
• Comfortable working in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments
• Able to communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders
• Fluent in English; Dutch and/or French is a strong advantage
