Vivid Resourcing in Ghent, Belgium, seeks a Freelance Accounting Manager to strengthen the finance team on an interim basis, combining hands-on accounting with team leadership and process improvement.

Responsibilities include leading daily operations, closing processes, ensuring Belgian GAAP reporting, supervising staff, coordinating VAT and audits, and collaborating with FP&A to support budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Extensive experience as an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant within a complex business environment.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP; IFRS is an advantage.
• Proven experience leading accounting teams and managing financial close processes.

• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
• Coordinate VAT returns, statutory reporting, and compliance with Belgian regulations.

• Identify opportunities to optimize accounting processes and controls.

Freelance Accounting Manager | Ghent, Belgium

Our client, an established international organization based in the Ghent region, is looking for an experienced Freelance Accounting Manager to strengthen its finance team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on finance professional who enjoys combining operational accounting responsibilities with team leadership and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the day‑to‑day accounting operations.
• Manage the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with Belgian GAAP and group reporting requirements.
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
• Supervise and coach the accounting team, providing guidance and support where needed.
• Coordinate VAT returns, statutory reporting, and compliance with Belgian accounting and tax regulations.
• Act as the primary contact for internal and external auditors.
• Collaborate with Controlling, FP&A, and business stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Identify opportunities to optimize accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve reporting efficiency.
• Support finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Extensive experience as an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant within a complex business environment.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP; experience with IFRS is an advantage.
• Proven experience leading accounting teams and managing financial close processes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Hands‑on mindset with the ability to work independently and drive results.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; French is considered an asset.
