imec India Private Limited is seeking an experienced ASIC Failure Analysis & Reliability Engineer to join their team in Heverlee, Belgium. In this role, you will evaluate ASICs to identify failure causes, analyze technical challenges, and collaborate with internal and external teams to drive improvement.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in Electronics or Physics and over 8 years of experience, with good knowledge of failure analysis techniques and strong problem-solving skills. Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in FA & Reliability engineering.
• Knowledge of MIL STD for automotive, space, medical ASIC qualification flows.
• Flexible to travel (on average 1 week/month).

ASIC Failure Analysis & Reliability Engineer

As ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) FA & Reliability Engineer, you are part of a team composed by Test Engineers, Product & Production engineers, Assembly & Packaging enagineers, Supply Chain and Project Managers. The Test Solutions team is part of imec’s Design and System Engineering R&D department. Whether it concerns small volumes or mass production, our mission is to always give our clients access to the best test houses worldwide. In collaboration with our internal experts and external partners, we continuously explore the latest evolutions within ASIC testing approaches. Our team has exposure to all market segments, including consumer, medical, automotive and space. We work with the most advanced technologies from mixed-signal ASICs, memories and image sensors.

What you will do

Our projects are broad in nature, usually requiring initiative, originality, and excellent problem-solving skills. The various tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Evaluate electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics of ASICs, to determine root cause of failure.
• Analyze failure reports and recommend corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of problems.
• Support new processes and product transfer.
• Collaborate with the other imec teams and the external subco’s to take a technical challenge from problem identification to final solution.
• Drive failure analysis investigations on parts complained by customer and in-house rejects.
• Plan and improve failure analysis capability and capacity continuously.
• Improve overall product quality and drive to zero customer returns.

Who you are

• Master’s degree in Electronics or Physics, preferably with 8+ years of relevant experience in FA & Reliability engineering.
• Good knowledge of failure analysis techniques: microsectioning, FIB, SEM, SAM, Xray, Hot Spot analysis (EMMI, OBirch, liquid crystals...).
• Knowledge of the MIL STD for automotive, space, medical and industrial ASIC qualification flows is indispensable.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Good communication skills (English is the working language).
• Problem solving skills, risk-based decision-making skills.
• Flexible to travel (on average 1 week/month).
