Qplox engineering seeks an Automation Expert specializing in Operational Technology (OT) to manage and modernize critical maritime infrastructure, including bridges and locks. You will work in a business-critical environment with a strong focus on cybersecurity in line with NIS/NIS2 requirements.

Required: 10+ years in industrial automation, Siemens Step 7 Classic (5+ years), TIA Portal (2+ years), and WinCC (2+ years) plus fluency in Dutch and strong technical English. On-site role in Belgium.

• Siemens Step 7 Classic: 5+ years incl. hardware config, netpro.
• Siemens TIA Portal: 2+ years incl. hardware setup, topology.

Responsabilités

• Manage and maintain OT systems for bridges and locks.

Our client is looking for an Automation Expert specializing in Operational Technology (OT) to manage, maintain, secure, and further modernize critical maritime infrastructure, including bridges and locks.

You will work in a business-critical environment where availability, safety, and continuity of service are paramount. The role combines industrial automation expertise—including PLC, SCADA, and related technologies—with a strong focus on cybersecurity in line with NIS and NIS2 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain OT systems used for the control and operation of bridges and locks.
• Further implement and strengthen cybersecurity measures in accordance with NIS and NIS2 requirements.
• Perform system updates, upgrades, and patching across a range of OT technologies, including:
• PLCs and I/O systems
• Sensors
• PCs and SCADA software
• Engineering software
• OPC / Kepware
• Variable speed drives
• UPS systems
• Variable message signs
• Develop and implement modifications to PLC and SCADA programs.
• Maintain, secure, and continuously improve critical industrial automation systems.
• Contribute to the long-term modernization and reliability of the OT infrastructure.

Must-Have Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years of demonstrable experience with the technologies listed above or comparable industrial automation technologies, at expert level.
• Siemens Step 7 Classic: minimum 5 years of experience, including:
• Hardware configuration
• Communication with other systems
• NetPro
• Siemens TIA Portal: minimum 2 years of experience, including:
• Setting up hardware systems
• Network topology
• Connections and communication between systems
• Siemens WinCC V7/V8: minimum 2 years of experience, with at least version 7.4, including:
• Hardware configuration of redundant systems
• PLC connectivity
• Station Configurator
• Higher education (Bachelor's or Master's degree) or equivalent professional experience.
• Degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Strong technical English skills.
• Fluent Dutch, both written and spoken.
