A leading health advocacy organization is seeking an EU Advocacy Officer to drive influence in Brussels on health and HIV policy. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in advocacy and be skilled in building relationships and developing strategies. Responsibilities include leading initiatives for EU health funding and working with diverse communities. This role offers a one-year contract with competitive salary and opportunities to work in a dynamic, hybrid environment.
We strive for a world where there are no longer any deaths from AIDS and where people enjoy good sexual health. A world in which everyone can love freely and without fear. We do this by working together with the people who are hit hardest by HIV and STIs because of discrimination and exclusion. We amplify their voices and support them with information, knowledge and funding. For All That is Love.
Aidsfonds has both national and international advocacy programmes. Thus far, our EU work has focused primarily on external action, while our national advocacy has centered on the Netherlands. This role will bridge that divide. You will be part of a small, agile advocacy team working to translate our new organisational strategy (2026–2030) into EU-level influence. You will work closely with our EU Representative, lead files within your own portfolio, and help shape our voice in Brussels.
We are seeking someone who will expand our EU advocacy into domestic EU health and HIV/SRH policy. This means stepping into a landscape with many strong actors and helping us identify our unique value and niche, shape and implement our EU advocacy strategy, and position Aidsfonds as a meaningful contributor within the Brussels health ecosystem.
You will help drive advocacy for stronger EU health funding in the next MFF, collaborate with partners and coalitions, and support our colleagues in Amsterdam in identifying EU funding opportunities. This is a role for someone who is excited to build something, not just manage it.
First of all, we offer you an ambitious and diverse organization in which we work together in an accessible, open and inspiring atmosphere and deliver quality based on appealing goals and clear roles. In this way we contribute to a world without AIDS and a drastic decrease in the number of STDs. You are welcome as you are, who you love or what you believe. We are curious about your talents and your social drive to work with us on our mission. You will get a chance to lead the development of our EU advocacy footprint in the HIV/SRHR arena. If you’re someone who thrives when given trust, freedom and responsibility - this is for you. You will help craft the strategy, build our network, and drive change with real autonomy.
In addition, we offer:
You approach issues from multiple perspectives and can build meaningful connections with the communities we work with, including people living with HIV, young people, children, LGBTQ+ communities, current and former sex workers, and people who use or have used drugs. You can do this because you draw on lived experience, or because you have worked closely with people from these communities in the past.
Please note that we currently have two vacancies based in Brussels. Please indicate clearly if you are applying to a specific vacancy or if you are interested in both. We are also interested to learn when you would be able to start with us. More information? www.aidsfonds.nl , www.aidsfonds.org and www.soaaids.nl
The first round of interviews take place online in the second week of January. If you have an urgent question about the position, you can contact Kasia Lemanska, EU representative, via an email: KLemanska@aidsfonds.nl .
