A major European energy infrastructure organization is strengthening its Group IT architecture operating model. The Enterprise Architect will immediately take ownership of translating the approved operating model into concrete working practices across Group and local entities. The mission focuses on establishing pragmatic architecture governance, operationalizing federated decision‑making, enabling Architecture Review Boards, and embedding architecture into portfolio, product and delivery processes while ensuring visible and measurable results.
Responsibilities
- Translate the approved architecture operating model into concrete working practices, priorities, milestones, dependencies, risks, decision points and pilots.
- Define and continuously improve the architecture governance framework, including principles, standards, policies, reference architectures and golden scenarios.
- Establish clear Architecture Review Board decision workflows, including decision packs, traceability and escalation paths.
- Operationalize the federated Target Operating Model across Group and Local Enterprise Architects, Domain Architects, Technical Architects and Solution Architects.
- Clarify architecture mandates, decision rights, handovers, interactions and escalation mechanisms.
- Define and communicate a clear architecture vision across Group, local, business, product, delivery, engineering, security, data and infrastructure stakeholders.
- Establish or improve Group and Local Architecture Review Board practices.
- Facilitate initial architecture governance and ARB sessions.
- Implement objective architecture review triggers and delegated decision‑routing mechanisms.
- Implement Architecture Decision Records, waiver and exception management, compliance levels and urgent fast‑track processes.
- Translate digital platform guardrails into practical guidance for local delivery teams.
- Embed architecture early into portfolio management, funding, demand intake, project and product delivery, application lifecycle, security, risk, data, integration and technology or vendor selection.
- Define proportionate architecture involvement based on criticality, complexity, risk, deviation and cross‑entity impact.
- Establish a minimum viable architecture artefact set with clear ownership, approval, versioning, review and retirement rules.
- Coach architecture roles and establish an Architecture Community and focused working groups.
- Transfer knowledge to internal stakeholders to enable independent operation of the architecture model.
- Define KPIs covering adoption, decision effectiveness, delivery enablement, reuse, compliance, risk and stakeholder value.
- Facilitate decisions, remove ambiguity, challenge stakeholders constructively and ensure agreed actions are implemented.
