Functieomschrijving

As Automation Engineer, you will play a central role in the development and optimization of our advanced sputtering machines. You are responsible for the PLC machine control and SCADA programming of both new Sputter Hardware systems and Sputter Target machines. From initial setup to customer installation, you ensure seamless automation integration by collaborating closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and service teams.

  • Develop and implement PLC and SCADA solutions for new machine platforms.
  • Create or update functional machine descriptions and documentation.
  • Perform functional final inspections before shipping equipment.
  • Provide on-site and remote support for upgrades and service interventions.
  • Define PLC and network components in collaboration with electrical engineering.
  • Align automation timelines with project milestones.
Vereisten
  • 10+ years of experience in automation within a machine-building environment.
  • Master’s degree in Electromechanics, Automation, or a related field.
  • Advanced skills in Siemens PLC programming (TIA Portal, Step7) and at least one additional system (Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff, Schneider, etc.).
  • Experience with SCADA systems such as WinCC, Wonderware, or iFIX.
  • Solid understanding of electrical schematics and servomotion technology.
  • Affinity with IT languages like .NET, C++, C#, SQL is a strong plus.
  • Hands-on, proactive personality with a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 30% of the time.
