Johnson & Johnson Beerse is seeking a Dissolution Scientist to join the DISSO team within Global Analytical Development. You will design, plan, and execute dissolution studies for oral and other formulations, and collaborate across sites to advance biorelevant methods.

The role requires GMP experience, a PhD or MSc with two years, strong data modelling skills, and excellent English; Dutch basics welcome. This 12-month contract is fully on-site in Beerse, Belgium, with a very competitive hourly

Qualifications

  • PhD in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical or related field.
  • Essential experience in the dissolution space and GMP processes.
  • Knowledge of small molecule formulation development and analytical chemistry.

Responsabilités

  • Work within project teams, conduct experiments in the lab, and provide guidance for outsourced work.
  • Contribute to biopharmaceutical assessment strategy using in vitro data to improve biorelevant methods and QC specifications.
  • Contribute to the automation strategy within the team.
  • Advance mechanistic understanding of in vitro dissolution.
  • Support progress data modelling and analysis approaches.
  • Participate in technical meetings with Beerse and other sites.
  • Represent the Dissolution Sciences team in cross-functional matrix environments.
  • Write and review technical and scientific documents.
  • Manage high project workloads and provide team support.

Imagine your next project applying the latest scientific thinking in dissolution testing to help bring new medication to patients worldwide within a global healthcare leader.

As a Dissolution Scientist within the DISSO team, part of the Global Analytical Development organization within the Therapeutics Development & Supply (TDS) department, you will design, plan, and follow-up on dissolution work to help the development of the best possible dosage form for the patient. We develop dissolution and in vitro release methods for immediate, modified, and targeted release formulations for oral, parenteral, and other administration routes. We investigate, characterize, and predict release rates in standard and biorelevant dissolution media using hands-on experimentation as well as using predictive modelling/data sciences. We validate and transfer methods, and we investigate deviating release rates to improve our methods and drug products.

  • Work within project teams, conduct scientific work, execute experiments in the lab, and provide guidance for outsourced work.
  • Take an active part to biopharmaceutical assessment strategy towards predicting in vivo exposure using in vitro data, to the improvement of biorelevant methods and to the development of clinically relevant QC methods and specifications.
  • Contribute to the automation strategy within the team.
  • Contribute to a further mechanistic understanding of in vitro dissolution.
  • Contribute to progress data modelling and analysis approaches.
  • Participate to technical and strategical meetings with colleagues in Beerse or in different sites around the world.
  • Represent the Dissolution Sciences team in a cross-functional matrix environment including formulation development, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology, quality assurance, and regulatory.
  • Write and review technical and scientific documents.
  • Manage high project workloads, scientific experimentation, and collaborative team support.
how to succeed
  • PhD in a relevant field (Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical) or Master's degree with 2 years of work experience; a Pharmacist background is highly preferred.
  • Essential prior experience in the dissolution space and GMP processes.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences relevant to the development of small molecule formulations, analytical chemistry, compliance and GMP.
  • Experience with dissolution testing (QC and/or biorelevant) and dissolution method development is a plus.
  • Predictive modelling experience / experience in statistical or data modelling / DoE / MVA is an asset and a plus.
  • Experience with laboratory automation or equipment qualification is a plus.
  • Fast learner with scientific curiosity, self-steering, pro-active, creative.
  • Ability to work autonomously in multidisciplinary teams and represent the department in cross-functional teams.
  • Good presentation skills in scientific meetings.
  • Good written and spoken communication in English. Knowledge of Dutch or willing to learn the basics.

This role offers a very competitive hourly rate. This contract will run for 12-month contract with potential for extension
