Elia Group in Belgium seeks a Digital Electrical Technician to join our team in Brussels. You will participate in a multi‑year development program focused on the high‑voltage grid, testing and implementing Elia’s protection and control systems, and gaining hands‑on experience with our digital electrotechnics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or technical training in electricity, electronics, automation or electromechanics, or equivalent experience.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to learn technical software used in grid protection.
• Willingness to travel to different facilities across Belgium and work in a digital environment.

Join our innovative team as a Digital Electrical Technician at Elia! Are you passionate about the latest innovations in digital electrotechnics and want to contribute to the future of the Belgian power grid? Elia has set up a special development program for technicians who want to take on challenges in a constantly evolving energy sector. This program offers you the opportunity to participate in various maintenance and development activities for the high‑voltage grid management systems of tomorrow.

As a Digital Electrical Technician, you will follow a tailored support program spread over several years. During the first three years, you will work intensively with our technical teams to build hands‑on experience, developing extensive knowledge of the high‑voltage world and acquiring specialized skills related to our protection systems (secondary systems). You will become responsible for testing and implementing Elia’s control and protection systems – the “brains” behind our network – and will detect potential faults and propose appropriate solutions.

At the end of the program, you will join a specialized Centralised Commissioning team that carries out tasks such as modifications, incident analysis, and the development of new standards, and is responsible for developing future working methods for integrating new technologies.

Your Profile

• You have a bachelor’s degree or technical training in electricity, electronics, automation or electromechanics, or equivalent experience.

• Efficiency and precision are your strengths.
• You are comfortable in a digital work environment that requires basic network management skills and the creation, management, and modification of digital information.
• You have experience with administrative software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and are willing to learn how to use technical software for specific applications.
• You have a category B driving licence and are willing to travel to our various facilities across Belgium.
• Knowledge of English is an asset, or you are willing to learn the language.
