Stellantis e-Transmissions in Sint-Truiden, Belgium, seeks a Design & Release Engineer for the Transmission Controller Unit (TCU). The role spans validation, feature integration, and cross‑functional collaboration with mechanical, software, electrical, and validation teams to ensure robust eDCT performance.

You will drive DFMEA, supplier APQP activities, and change management while aligning with global counterparts. Fluency in English is expected; travel to supplier sites may occur.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electronics, electrical engineering, automotive engineering or related field.
  • 4–5 years of experience in design or related roles in automotive or power electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic systems and power electronics.
  • EMC background or exposure during studies.

Responsabilités

  • Validate integration of the Transmission Controller in the control system (lab work).
  • Support serial life and continuous improvement for embedded systems.
  • Develop component requirements and specifications.
  • Create and maintain DFMEA.
  • Support PPAP acceptance at the Transmission Assembly Plant.
  • Own the APQP grid with suppliers.
  • Interface with global counterparts on CN change management.
  • Analyze field returns, 0‑km failures and supplier performance.
  • Coordinate system requirements and traceability in Polarion.

Design & Release Engineer – Controller
About The Role

The Stellantis North Europe Tech Center (Sint-Truiden, Belgium, with an engineering antenna in Eindhoven, Netherlands) leads the development and industrial lifecycle support of the electrified Dual Clutch Transmission (eDCT) product line.

Our team develop and maintain the embedded electric components for the 3 products:

  • 48V Mild Hybrid (MHEV) e-drive system (inverter and emotor)
  • 400V Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) e-drive system (inverter and emotor)
  • A next-generation HEV e-drive under development (inverter and emotor)
  • A modular Transmission control Unit fitting in all the product line

These systems are deployed globally across multiple Stellantis vehicle platforms, supporting annual production volumes of approximately 1.2 million units. To support serial life as well as regulatory evolution (Euro 7), new product derivatives and serial-life topics, we are looking for a Design and Release Engineer with strong system understanding and field-issue analysis experience.

Role Overview

The selected candidate will support the development of existing TCU (Transmission Controller Unit) and contribute to cross-functional technical topics. The role requires a candidate capable of working autonomously, adapting to shifting priorities, and coordinating across mechanical, software, electrical, manufacturing and validation domains.

The assignment includes close collaboration with the Assistant Chief Engineers and Family Manager of the MHEV and PHEV programs.

Responsibilities
  • Support validation of Integration of Controller in Transmission Control System (Lab activities)
  • Support serial life and continuous improvement activities for existing embedded systems.
  • Develop component requirements and specifications
  • Creation and maintenance of DFMEA
  • Support Transmission Assembly Plant acceptance during PPAP builds
  • Take ownership of the APQP grid towards the suppliers
  • Support efforts to incorporate module(s) into Stellantis eDCT and vehicle electrical systems and work with suppliers on new module package designs to conform to Stellantis vehicle under-hood and interior environments.
  • Responsible for releasing components via Change Management System (CN's) and will interface with Global counterparts on global commonality.
  • Coordinate and contribute to structured issue analysis for:
    • Field returns / warranty
    • Plant or 0-km system failures
    • Support supplier Management
  • Perform or support analysis based on:
    • CAN traces
    • Performance indicators (current, efficiency, electrical control behavior, EMC)
  • Support system analysis activities involving:
    • Mechanical integration engineers
    • Sensors and actuators expert
    • Software calibration and controls teams
    • Validation and functional safety
    • Simulation experts
    • Drive or support 8D/Six Sigma problem-solving as hoc workshops.
  • Coordinate and monitor system requirements and traceability (Polarian).
Qualifications
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Master’s degree in electronics, electrical engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 -5 years of experience in Design or related roles in the automotive or power electronics industry.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic systems, power electronics, or similar technologies.
  • EMC background in school
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and technical notes redaction skills
  • Excellent work ethic, organization skills, and communication skills
Preferred Tools & Technical Exposure
  • Requirements management platforms: Polarion, (DOORS)
  • CAN analysis tools: Vector CANalyzer/CANoe, Canapee
  • Engineering analysis: MATLAB/Simulink, data processing tools
  • Issue tracking and problem-solving frameworks: 8D, FMEA, Six Sigma
Soft Skills
  • Autonomous, proactive and solution-driven working style
  • Able to work in an ambiguous and evolving scope (AGILE way of Working)
  • Comfortable coordinating between multiple stakeholders
  • Clear communicator in both written and spoken technical language
  • Fluent in English (French, Dutch and Italian are assets but not required)
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional Travel to supplier plant
  • Occasional travel to supplier worldwide and Stellantis Transmission plants (France and Italy) may be required.
