Klarrio is a project agency that builds data platforms enabling customers to analyze and process data. You will join the R&D team delivering data platforms in an agile setting, focusing on quality and security.

Based in Antwerp, you will work onsite at least 3 days per week to collaborate and contribute to project-based work. You will design, build, and operate production infrastructure for reliable, scalable data systems while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to knowledge sharing.

Data Platform Engineer (3-5 years experience)

Klarrio is a project agency specialized in building data platforms for customers to enable them to analyze and process data.

We have been working on a wide range of projects in various domains such as Telecom, Smart Cities, Transport & Logistics, Innovative Technology Solution Providers, Public Infrastructure, Manufacturing, … Check out some of our past and current projects and customers on our website.

You will be part of the R&D team that delivers data platforms tailored to the needs of the customer in an agile manner. The development of these platforms requires a multidisciplinary team consisting of developers who are not afraid to take initiative and have an eye for quality and security. We believe in our in-house synergies between team members to create the best possible solution for our customers. Therefore we always work on a project basis and don’t do body shopping.

We are looking for Data Platform Engineers!

Are you passionate about building and operating the infrastructure that powers large-scale data platforms, tuning Kafka clusters, integrating Spark/Flink with user experience in mind, building data lake foundations, and do you enjoy the challenge of making distributed systems reliable, secure, multi-tenant and scalable in production?

At Klarrio, we’re looking for engineers with 3 to 5 years of experience who combine solid platform/infrastructure fundamentals with some real hands-on experience using data technologies. You understand not just how to run these systems, but what “good” looks like from the perspective of the people building on top of them.

You are expected to be onsite at our Antwerp office at least 3 days per week to maximize team collaboration and help to build our culture. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required for planning sessions or in-depth technical discussions, but our teams primarily work from our own offices.

Your challenges and responsibilities as a data platform engineer:

Design, build, and (where applicable) operate the platform infrastructure that supports our data technologies in production with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.

Work with a high degree of autonomy: execute tasks end-to-end and know when to loop in others.

Stay current on our core technologies. You follow up on new releases, API changes, vulnerabilities, ecosystem shifts.

Lead troubleshooting efforts on production issues, driving root cause analysis and resolution.

Deliver work in compliance with industry standards, security practices, and regulatory requirements.

Set an example for junior engineers through code quality, documentation, and coaching.

Contribute to team knowledge-sharing (wikis, whiteboard sessions, design reviews).

Take ownership of your work and provide thorough peer review.

Contribute to retrospectives, project planning, and estimation.

Ideally, you possess the following qualifications:

Programming experience in Go, Java, Scala, Rust, or similar.

Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible, or similar).

Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar).

Solid understanding of computer networking (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL, firewalls).

Advanced understanding of Unix/Linux and OS concepts.

Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures.

Hands-on experience with data technologies

Practitioner-level experience with at least one of: Kafka, Spark, Flink.

Working knowledge of database systems (SQL or NoSQL) — how they’re built, deployed, and scaled.

Ways of working

Comfortable on features where the problem is clear but the solution isn’t.

Effective collaboration with QA, SRE, and other non-dev teams.

Coaching ability toward junior engineers; constructive, respectful code review feedback.

Strong open-source affinity and a mindset that sovereignty is a core asset of the solutions we build.

Extra assets are:

Experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, FluxCD).

Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) — bonus if in an open-source/hybrid context (e.g., OpenStack).

CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Tekton).
