Meritis is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data team working with an international organization in the energy sector. You will design, implement, and optimize scalable data solutions and ensure data availability for analytical and operational needs.

You will develop data pipelines using Python, Spark, and SQL on AWS, build Gold Data Sets, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve data quality in a hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• 3 to 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
• Fluent in French or Dutch with professional English proficiency.

Responsabilités

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable data architectures (data lakes, data warehouses, AWS-based databases).
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate data from multiple sources.
• Build and maintain Gold Datasets for analytics and reporting.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a Data team within an international organization operating in the energy sector.

You will contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable data solutions that support data-driven initiatives in a complex and constantly evolving business environment.

Working closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams, you will ensure that data is available, reliable, and ready to support both analytical and operational needs.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable data architectures (data lakes, data warehouses, and AWS-based databases).
• Contribute to the continuous evolution and optimization of the existing data platform.
• Ensure the scalability, security, and performance of data systems.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate data from multiple sources.
• Build and maintain consolidated datasets ("Gold Datasets") for analytics and reporting.
• Automate data processing workflows to ensure reliable and recurring execution.

Data Development & Quality

• Develop data processing solutions using Python, Spark, and SQL.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability throughout the entire data lifecycle.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to continuously improve data quality across the platform.
• Work closely with Data, IT, and business teams.
• Document data pipelines, architectures, and technical processes.
• Contribute to the monitoring, maintenance, and production support of the data platform.

Candidate Profile

Required Technical Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, including:
• Amazon S3
• Amazon Athena
• AWS Glue
• Amazon Redshift
• Hands-on experience with Databricks (preferably on AWS).
• Strong programming skills in:
• Python
• Spark / PySpark
• SQL
• Experience with modern data processing technologies.
• Good understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience with Azure DevOps and release pipelines.
• AWS Certified Data Engineer certification is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of Great Expectations is a plus.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Previous experience in the energy or utilities sector.
• Familiarity with enterprise systems such as:
• SAP IS-U
• Experience with Agile tools (Azure DevOps, Jira).
• Knowledge of Collibra.

Education & Experience

• Professional proficiency in English.

Location & Working Conditions

• Long-term assignment.
• Hybrid working model with 3 to 4 days of remote work per week.
