Wlgroup in Belgium (Waals-Brabant, Eigenbrakel) relocates to Norfolk, VA for NATO-5 visa project. This hands-on data engineering role builds pipelines, models data, and turns it into decision support across infrastructure programmes.

You will work with programme managers and data owners to understand decisions, implement repeatable data ingestion, ensure data quality and governance, prototype data-collection apps, and deliver dashboards showing status and dependencies.

Qualifications

• University degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Recent end-to-end data delivery projects completed personally.
• 3+ of the last 5 years in data integration and engineering, with hands-on work in the last 2 years.
• 2+ of the last 5 years using SQL and an analytical language (Python or R) in the last 2 years.
• Experience designing or building digital data-collection and workflow solutions.
• At least 3 of the last five years personally building business intelligence products.
• Hands-on data modelling, data quality and governance work.
• Experience documenting and handing over a solution so it survives without you.
• At least two of the last five years working directly with operational users and programme staff.
• Fluent professional English.

Responsabilités

• Hands-on data integration, engineering and analysis across the portfolio, starting with the infrastructure programmes.
• Work directly with programme managers, analysts and data owners to understand which decisions need which information.
• Design, build, test and maintain repeatable pipelines ingesting data from several sources.
• Build data models, common definitions, business rules and quality controls for trustworthy output.
• Prototype digital data-collection apps to replace spreadsheet-heavy reporting.
• Build dashboards, metrics and visualisations showing programme status and dependencies.
• Apply descriptive and diagnostic analysis, and predictive techniques where needed.
• Integrate portfolio information with authoritative enterprise sources through approved mechanisms.
• Find and fix data quality, ownership, lineage and governance problems.
• Document sources, models, transformations and operating procedures so someone else can run it.
