VIB—Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie in Ghent—seeks an ICT Data Engineer to turn data from diverse business systems into reliable data foundations for reporting, analytics and data-driven decision making. You will work with pipelines, models and code to deliver scalable, reusable data products.

You will collaborate with analysts and application teams, apply robust data engineering practices, and contribute to a platform built on Microsoft Fabric while growing your expertise in a dynamic,

Qualifications

• Several years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related role.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Solid experience designing and implementing data pipelines, transformations and data models.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to work with large, complex datasets.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

Responsabilités

• Turn data from multiple business systems into reliable, reusable data solutions and data products.
• Build and optimize scalable data pipelines across the institutional data platform.
• Develop data models for analytical consumption and apply data warehouse/lakehouse concepts.
• Collaborate with analysts and application teams to translate needs into robust data solutions.
• Ensure maintainability, security, testing and observability of data solutions.
