Qover is seeking a mid/senior data engineer to strengthen our data capabilities in Brussels. You will own developing data reports, prototyping to production, and aligning solutions with strong engineering practices.

You’ll work on dbt pipelines, a robust data model, and timely data delivery to partners while upholding governance and security standards. You will collaborate with a global team across the data space, evangelize best practices, and help business users become data-savvy.

Competenze

• At least 3 years of experience in SQL and data modelling.
• Master's degree in STEM preferred, not mandatory.
• Fluent in Python.
• Experience with Git, Bash, CI/CD and Docker.
• Experience with cloud services and serverless data warehouses.
• Excellent communication and fluent English; Dutch is a plus.

About the role

In the Qover data team, we are engineers at heart with a strong focus on operations. We are supporting the executions of our insurance programs on a daily basis by ensuring that all our partners have access to fresh and reliable data.

We are seeking a mid/senior data engineer to strengthen our data capabilities. You will be in the driver's seat for implementing data reports, from prototyping to production, while always ensuring that your technical solutions align with the best engineering practices.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Your main objective is to develop and maintain scalable and clean data financial reports to support the launch and execution of our insurance programs. We expect you to:

  • develop, maintain and improve our dbt data pipelines that support the day-to-day operations of our embedded insurance programs

  • propose and implement a robust data model that can cope with the specificities of insurance data and require little modification to support the launch of the new products

  • make sure that the data is delivered timely to our partners

  • run quality assurance checks to ensure data consistency across data deliverables

  • leverage synergies across our data sources to limit the number of tables in our BigQuery data warehouse, and avoid that our databases turn into a data maze

  • Further develop our data governance through

    • extensive testing ( data tests, unit tests, anomaly detection)

    • sufficient data documentation

    • controlled data access

    • clear data lineage

• make sure that our partners' data stay secure and private, one of our top priorities

• In addition, you will be a key technical contributor to the data space at Qover. You will leverage your expertise on various topics to:

  • Push our data architecture to the next level. This includes a constant review of our data model and data warehouse design.

  • Upskill the team by evangelizing good practices through code reviews and dedicated sessions

  • Educate and help business users to become data-savvy

Your qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in SQL and data modelling

• Master's degree in STEM is preferred but not a hard requirement

• Leverage AI agents to speed-up code development, testing and delivery

• Experience in dbt is highly desirable

• Fluent in python

• You are familiar with the modern data stack

• Experience with git, bash, CI/CD and docker

• You have already delivered software products with unit and integration tests

• You have experience working with cloud services, and more specifically with serverless data warehouses.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills and fluent in English

• Proficiency in Dutch is a plus

• While you always want to keep up with market trends and best practices, you are also pragmatic. You feel comfortable trading technical elegance to be able to speed up the pace of delivery

• Willing to work in fast-paced environment and able to cope with time pressure

• Autonomous, you are also hands-on with a strong team spirit

• You are proactive and self-driven. You need minimal supervision and welcome changes. You are comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
