Agad-Technology is seeking a COBOL Software Engineer to join a long‑term retail program. You will map AS‑IS systems toward TO BE, support the B2B invoicing and customer management modules, and handle application integrations and daily incident responses.

With at least 5 years COBOL experience and Dutch language proficiency, you will also take on light run/support duties after onboarding and participate in on‑call rotation after the first year.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years COBOL experience (AcuCOBOL 85 a plus).
• Experience with Oracle 19 is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of Linux/RedHat, VMware, SOAP/XML, Java SDK, Apache Ant, WebSphere.
• Dutch is mandatory; all source comments and docs in Dutch.
• Strong analytical mindset, eager to learn and good communication skills.
• Willingness to take on run/support tasks after onboarding.

Responsabilités

• Study and map AS‑IS systems to enable TO BE future‑readiness.
• Support and develop the internal B2B package (invoicing, items data, pricing, customer management).
• Perform application integrations and daily checks; resolve incidents and handle tickets.
• After one year: limited on‑call duty during office hours (1–2 calls/month).

We are looking for a COBOL Software Engineerfor a long-term program at our client in retail.

Part of the project is to study and map the AS IS situation so they are future‑ready by understanding all the applications and systems so they're able to easily build towards the TO BE in the future. The other part is technical support and development.

Role context

• Work on the internal B2B package (invoicing, article data, pricing, customer management…)
• AS‑IS analysis, documentation, diving into the sources, technical adjustments
• Application integrations
• Daily checks, incident resolution, ticket handling
• After one year: limited on‑call duty during office hours
• Minimum5 years COBOL experience(AcuCOBOL 85 is a plus)
• Experience with Oracle 19is a strong advantage
• Knowledge of Linux/RedHat, VMware, SOAP/XML, Java SDK, Apache Ant, WebSphere
