Green Recruitment in Brussels Region seeks an experienced engineering leader to drive the development, engineering, and construction of large-scale battery energy storage projects. You will coordinate electrical, civil, and structural design, manage tenders, and ensure delivery on time, budget, and quality.

You hold a Master’s in Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering and have 5+ years in large energy or infrastructure projects, with strong BESS expertise and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent by experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in engineering and/or construction of large energy or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with BESS technologies and electrical systems.
• Civil and structural engineering experience (foundations, drainage, infrastructure).
• Experience managing complex projects from a project engineering or owner’s engineer perspective.
• Knowledge of project development, permitting, and grid connection processes.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to optimize technical and financial parameters.
• Hands-on, solution-oriented, and capable in fast-growth environments.

• Manage project documentation, risks, quality, and reporting across multiple projects.
• Support asset performance through KPI monitoring and technical evaluation.

For our client, a fast-growing renewable energy developer, active in the development, financing, and ownership of large-scale battery energy storage projects, with a pipeline exceeding 1 GW, Green Recruitment is looking for a:

Brussels Region

• You will play a central role in the development, engineering, and construction of large-scale battery energy storage projects, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to the highest technical standards.
• You actively initiate, develop, and guide the engineering and execution of large battery storage projects (typically >100 M EUR investment size).
• You lead the engineering design and coordination across multiple projects, covering electrical (BESS) as well as civil and structural aspects.
• You define technical specifications and manage tendering processes, acting as the main technical interface with suppliers, integrators, and contractors.
• You monitor and coordinate the work of EPC contractors, engineers, consultants, and other external partners across all project phases.
• You ensure compliance with Belgian regulations, technical standards, and site-specific constraints, with a focus on performance, safety, and cost efficiency.
• You coordinate internal stakeholders (development, procurement, construction, HSE) and manage communication with external stakeholders (TSO, permitting authorities, consultants, etc.).
• You contribute to the development phase through site assessments and feasibility studies, layout optimization and basic engineering and civil design input (foundations, drainage, infrastructure)
• You oversee key technical aspects, including: BESS system design and integration, HV/MV substations and grid connection Cabling, protection systems, and electrical infrastructure and Civil works and site infrastructure
• You act as engineering lead during construction, including site visits, inspections, factory visits, and participation in FAT/SAT.
• You manage project documentation, risks, quality, and reporting, while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• You support asset performance by contributing to battery degradation analysis, KPI monitoring, and technical performance evaluation.
• You have the potential to grow into a Team Leader role, managing and mentoring project/engineering managers

Your Profile

• You hold a Master’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent by experience).
• You have at least 5 years of experience in engineering and/or construction of large energy or infrastructure projects, ideally in battery storage or renewables.
• You bring strong expertise in:
• BESS technologies and electrical systems
• Civil and structural engineering (foundations, drainage, infrastructure)
• Multidisciplinary project coordination
• You have experience managing complex projects simultaneously from a project engineering or owner’s engineer’s perspective.
• You understand project development, permitting, and grid connection processes.
• You are analytically strong and able to understand and optimize technical and financial parameters in complex projects.
• You are hands‑on, solution‑oriented, and able to get things done in a fast‑growing environment.
• You have strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• You are fluent in English and French; Dutch is a strong advantage.
• You are passionate about the energy transition and battery technologies.
