Headquartered in Liège (Belgium), Weerts Group operates and invests in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Hungary and Romania.

As part of the development of our tax department, we are looking for an experienced Tax Manager with a strong focus on Belgian taxation to strengthen our Tax Team and support the Group’s growth.

The position will primarily focus on Belgian tax compliance, while also contributing to international tax matters in support of and close collaboration with the other members of the Group’s Tax Team.

Your Role
  • As a member of the Group’s Tax Team, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring the tax compliance of our Belgian entities.
  • You will work in close collaboration with local fiduciaries, accounting teams, the finance department and your colleagues within the Tax Team.
  • While your main area of responsibility will be Belgian taxation and compliance, you will also support the Tax Team on international and cross-border tax matters, contributing your Belgian tax expertise where relevant.
  • You will act as a technical expert, while contributing to a coordinated and consistent tax approach across the Group.
Your Responsibilities
A. Belgian Tax Compliance Management
  • Review tax returns for the Group’s Belgian entities, including VAT, direct taxes, withholding taxes and other filing obligations.
  • Coordinate and supervise local fiduciaries in the execution of their missions.
  • Ensure compliance with filing deadlines and tax calendars.
  • Monitor and optimise advance tax payments.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and follow-up of Belgian tax compliance matters.
B. Tax Risk Identification & Mitigation
  • Identify potential tax compliance risks relating to the Group’s Belgian activities.
  • Proactively identify risk areas and propose appropriate corrective measures.
  • Ensure that the Group’s Belgian tax positions are appropriately documented.
C. Implementation & Improvement of Procedures
  • Establish and maintain a tax review schedule aligned with Belgian regulatory calendars.
  • Analyse specific tax compliance topics, including non-deductible expenses, VAT, withholding taxes and other relevant Belgian tax matters.
  • Produce accurate and structured tax documentation and ensure its communication within the Group.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and standardisation of tax compliance processes.
D. International Tax Team Support
  • Work closely with the other members of the Tax Team and provide support on international and cross-border tax matters.
  • Contribute to international tax compliance topics where Belgian entities or Belgian tax considerations are involved.
  • Support the Tax Team on relevant international tax matters, including ATAD, transfer pricing and cross-border taxation.
  • Collaborate with local tax advisors, fiduciaries and finance teams across the countries in which the Group operates.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and a consistent approach to tax compliance across the Group.
E. Legislative & Regulatory Monitoring
  • Actively monitor developments in Belgian tax legislation and practice.
  • Anticipate their potential impact on the Group’s Belgian activities and compliance obligations.
  • Follow relevant international and European tax developments in collaboration with the other members of the Tax Team.
  • Ensure that relevant regulatory developments are appropriately communicated and reflected in the Group’s tax compliance processes.
Your Profile
  • Education: Master’s degree in law or economics, complemented by a degree or postgraduate qualification in Taxation.
  • Experience: 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in taxation and/or tax compliance, ideally acquired within a tax law firm, a Big Four or similar tax advisory firm, and/or a corporate tax environment.
  • Technical expertise: Excellent command of Belgian tax and accounting rules, with a particular focus on corporate income tax, VAT and withholding taxes.
  • International exposure: Good understanding of international and European tax principles and ability to contribute to international tax matters as part of the Tax Team.
  • Tools: Proficiency in Excel; comfortable with ERP systems — knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset.
  • Languages: Fluency in Dutch, French and English is an asset in our international environment.
  • Soft skills: Rigor, analytical mindset, pragmatism, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to simplify complex topics and strong team spirit.
