Sarens is seeking a Barge Master to join our international team in Wolvertem, Belgium. In this role, you will facilitate safe and seamless heavy transport on rivers and canals across Europe. You will prepare and operate barges while collaborating closely with engineers and a dedicated crew.

The ideal candidate will have experience with water-based transport, knowledge of ballasting, and excellent communication skills. A permanent full-time contract is offered with a competitive salary and various benefits including transport, accommodation, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience with Ro‑Ro and skidding operations is essential.
• Willing to travel and work across Europe is required.
• Background in marine operations or engineering is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and move barges before and after each job.
• Follow project and safety plans during all operations.
• Carry out ballasting work using instructions and calculations.

Connaissances

Experience working on barges and water‑based transport

Knowledge of ballasting and mooring

Excellent English communication skills

Able to read basic technical plans

Good team player
