AvioBook is seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer (NodeJS, NestJS) to join our Hasselt team. You’ll focus on AVIOBOOK Connect, building backend services and APIs that enable real-time, offline-capable collaboration for aviation teams.

You’ll own features end-to-end, from refinement to production, ensuring secure, scalable and production-ready software. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and proactive troubleshooting are key to success.

Qualifications

• Experience building secure, production-ready backend services.
• Proven ability to design and implement REST APIs and WebSockets.
• Strength in real-time collaboration and offline-first behavior.
• Familiarity with security best practices (OWASP) and data privacy (GDPR).
• Ability to own features end-to-end from refinement to production.

For our Headquarters in Hasselt we are looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer (NodeJS, NestJS).

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Backend Software Engineer who enjoys working in a great team and an exciting industry. Every flight is a coordinated effort. Pilots, cabin crew, the OCC and other stakeholders need to stay connected in real time—even on mobile devices with limited connectivity at 35,000 feet. Our software is used every flight day, so reliability matters.

Your role

As a Backend Software Engineer, you’ll work on AVIOBOOK Connect, our fast-growing chat application that keeps aviation teams connected.

You’ll focus on the backend services and APIs that power Connect, tackling technical challenges such as:

• Offline behaviour and limited connectivity
• Real-time communication and state
• Reliable and scalable backend services
• Secure, production-ready software

You’ll own features end-to-end, from refinement to production. You remain responsible for how your services and APIs perform when real crews use them.

How you’ll work

You’ll collaborate closely with Product Owners, Designers, Engineers and other stakeholders to turn requirements into high-quality software. You’ll contribute to system architecture, make technical decisions and deliver tangible value in an Agile environment.

You’ll also take an active role in the operational side of your features, from identifying risks and performance bottlenecks to troubleshooting production issues using tools such as logs, distributed tracing and APM.
