TITLE: AVIONICS ENGINEER

LOCATION: Luxembourg

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Avionics Engineer, you will support ongoing missions, lead technical developments, and take ownership of testing, scripting and electronic subsystem verification. Depending on project needs, you will also support the design and assembly and validation of engineering models. You will work closely with avionics, robotics, systems engineering and embedded software teams to ensure reliable hardware performance under space constraints.

You will report to the Avionics Group Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute laboratory work using oscilloscopes, generators, multimeters and spectrum analyzers
  • Create, document and maintain functional testing plans for electronic units and perform functional testing and validation of hardware according to test plans.
  • Develop and run scripts for test automation and data processing (Python).
  • Assemble and test Engineering models and EGSE configurations.
  • Contribute to requirements definition and ensure technical ownership across IRD, ICD and specification development.
  • Support Projects needs through FMECA activities.
  • Support project needs in terms of power budgets and link budgets.
  • Conduct testing, debugging and validation of I2C, SPI, UART and Ethernet interfaces.
  • Support RF subsystem activities including radio technology selection and regulatory discussions.
  • Support FPGA development tasks using Xilinx tools.
  • Contribute to rover documentation in regard to avionics and electronics architectures and diagrams.
  • Perform additional avionics engineering tasks as required by project need
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, DMMs and spectrum analyzers.
  • Proven experience creating, executing and documenting functional test plans for electronic hardware.
  • Experience developing and using Python scripts for testing, automation or data analysis.
  • Experience assembling and testing engineering models.
  • Proficiency with Linux environments and basic driver‑level work.
  • Experience with requirements definition, IRD, ICD and technical specifications.
  • Solid understanding of FMECA and the ability to support PA, QA and systems engineering activities.
  • Ability to support power budget and RF or link budget assessments.
  • Experience creating or reviewing DDVP documentation.
  • Basic FPGA programming experience using Xilinx tools.
  • Ability to contribute to system architecture diagrams, technical documentation and, when required, schematic reviews.
