UPDT272 is seeking an Automation Project Leader to manage automation initiatives from concept through production release in a Brussels-based role.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, customers, and suppliers to deliver reliable automation solutions, ensuring quality and safety standards across projects in an international industrial context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics, Process Engineering or related field.
• Experience in industrial automation or automation project management is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of automation systems, robotics, and manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with CAD software and technical design documentation.

About the job Automation Project Leader (M/F) - Belgium, Brussels

We are looking for an Automation Project Leader to manage and coordinate automation projects from initial concept and feasibility assessment through implementation, commissioning, and production release.

In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, customers, suppliers, and external partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and high-performance automation solutions. Your contribution will be essential to improving manufacturing efficiency, supporting new product industrialization, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate automation projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from planning to production release.
• Define technical specifications, project requirements, schedules, and implementation plans.
• Monitor project budgets, deadlines, technical deliverables, and overall progress.
• Coordinate technical discussions with customers, suppliers, internal departments, and external partners.
• Support the design, programming, assembly, installation, and commissioning of automated systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and FMEA analyses to identify potential improvements and technical challenges.
• Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, and automotive industry standards.
• Support the industrialization of new products and the implementation of new manufacturing processes.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, equipment optimization, and increased production efficiency.
• Take ownership of project delivery, ensuring alignment between technical requirements, operational needs, and business objectives.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in industrial automation, engineering, or automation project management is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, robotics, and manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with CAD software and technical design documentation.
• Knowledge of Siemens S7 and TIA Portal is considered an asset.
• Good command of Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Structured, analytical, and results-oriented approach to work.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and take responsibility for project outcomes.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving technical challenges.

Languages

• Fluent English is required.
• French and/or German are considered an advantage.
