Optimus Search is seeking a Freelance Automation Engineer (Siemens) for a 12-month+ extension in West Flanders, Belgium. The role focuses on Siemens-based automation projects, PCS7, and on-site support within a mature production environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong Siemens experience, the ability to work independently, and be Dutch-speaking with local presence in Belgium. The contract is freelance (6 months + extension) and primarily on-site with some flexibility.

About the Role

We are supporting a well-established industrial production environment in West Flanders that is looking to strengthen its automation team with an experienced Freelance Automation Engineer.

Due to a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, they are looking for an additional hands-on engineer to support ongoing and future automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Support automation projects across production and process environments
• Work on Siemens-based systems, including development, optimisation, and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with internal teams and external integrators
• Assist with commissioning, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide hands‑on support on‑site where required

What You Bring

• Strong experience with Siemens automation systems
• Proven experience with:
• PCS7
• Solid project experience across industrial/process environments
• Good understanding of process‑driven industries (e.g. food, chemicals, manufacturing)
• Ability to work independently and integrate into existing teams
• Dutch‑speaking and based locally in Belgium (West Flanders region preferred)
• Freelance contract (6 months + extension)
• Location: West Flanders (primarily on‑site with some flexibility)
