Vrije Universiteit Brussel invites applications for a Professor in History of International Law. The role oversees the EUTOPIA Connected Learning Community Legal History and supervises Master theses in law.

The candidate will conduct high‑level research, publish widely, and organize seminars while building an international network. The appointment is 0.3 FTE for 3 years (renewable) with a salary linked to government scales.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Doctor in law with a strong publication record.
• Potential to apply for an ERC grant and secure external funding.
• Teaching experience with international and diverse student populations.
• Proficiency in English; Dutch language learning encouraged.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate and supervise VUB participation in the EUTOPIA Connected Learning Community Legal History.
• Supervise and evaluate Master theses in Law.
• Occasionally guest lecture in English in other courses.
• Conduct high-quality research in History of International Law and publish in peer-reviewed venues.
• Organize seminars and conferences; supervise PhD candidates; build scientific networks.
• Contribute to governance of the faculty RC, department JURI, and CORE research group.
