A leading educational institution is seeking a Junior Assistant for a two-year appointment in Ghent. The role involves conducting academic research and assisting in communication management courses. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in social sciences and possess excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English. Responsibilities
  • At least 50% of the assignment will be spent on academic research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation.
  • Assist in the teaching activities at the department, specifically the following courses related to the domain of communication management and persuasive communication.
  • Assist in the internal and external services of the department.
Qualifications
  • Hold a Master’s degree in social sciences, preferably in communication sciences, completed before the start of the appointment.
  • For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, submit a certificate of equivalence (NARIC).
  • Be interested in academic and/or project‑based research and services.
  • Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended.
  • Show a clear interest in the field of communication management and persuasive communication.
  • Have knowledge of a wide range of social‑scientific research methods, especially experimental research.
  • Have excellent teaching and communication skills.
  • Speak and write Dutch and English fluently.
Offer
  • Two‑year appointment, renewable twice for two years, subject to a positive evaluation; previous appointments as a junior assistant or doctoral fellow at a Flemish university are deducted from the maximum term of six years according to the Codex of Higher Education.
  • Appointment will start on 1 March 2026 at the earliest.
