The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of KU Leuven has two vacancies for full‑time academic positions in the research department LIRIS. Candidates of all stages – junior researchers, senior researchers, or PhD students approaching completion – may apply. The role offers the possibility to be employed as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or (Full) Professor, depending on qualifications and academic experience.

Teaching

Teaching responsibilities include delivering courses in information systems engineering at the Leuven, Brussels and Kortrijk campuses, with potential future teaching at Antwerp Campus. Courses are assigned in consideration of the candidate’s profile and experience. The position also involves continuous development of educational programmes, supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses, and participation in educational initiatives that promote research‑based, student‑activating learning.

Research

Research expectations are those of an internationally oriented information systems engineer. Applicants should have a strong publication record in top-tier peer‑reviewed journals, experience attracting external research funding, and a track record of developing and leading international research projects. Advising doctoral students, conducting fundamental scientific research, and exploring opportunities for translating research findings into applied contexts are all expected.

Service

Service duties include integration into the research group, participation in professional group activities, internal service responsibilities, and contribution to societal engagement and broader social debate on information systems topics.

Profile & Qualifications

• PhD in Economics, Business, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Industrial Management, Information Management, or a related field with clear expertise in information systems engineering.
• Evidence of research excellence, demonstrated by publications in top-tier journals, successful grant proposals, and international research experience.
• Strong didactic skills and, preferably, prior teaching experience in information systems engineering.
• Excellent written and spoken English; basic Dutch language skills are encouraged and can be acquired through university training.
• Team‑oriented communication and organisational skills.

Offer

• Two vacancies are available for full‑time positions with a clear commitment to the Leuven campus of FEB.
• The role includes a starting research grant of 110 000 € to facilitate scientific onboarding and accelerate research in the first phase.
